Rules:
Update: 09 May 2009
1. Respect each other, be polite and courteous, be nice, no flame wars.
2. No foul language. We have a profanity filter. If we see you use a word we think is bad, it will likely be added to the filter.
3. No padding your post count. We keep an eye on the quality of posts you make. It will not affect your being able to play arcade games when you hit 150.
4. If you think a post violates the rules or is offensive, either click on the triangle with the exclamation point in the middle in the upper right hand of the post to report a bad post or pm one of the staff. It's always better to inform us so we can look into it than to try and battle it out with someone.
5. Any topic regarding a future episode that has not yet aired must have the word "spoilers" in the title and again at the top of your post. It must also say next at the top of your post which episode it is in reference to.
6. See "The Other Guys" forum for rules specifically regarding fan fiction and art.
7. NO Spamming or Phishing is allowed on this site! You will get No warnings. Anyone caught in such activity of such nature will lead then to your immediate dismissal. In other words you will be Banned from this site.
Regarding Themes:
There are different themes in which you can view the board. If you are not logged in, you will be forced to see the themes we've set for each forum. If you are registered and logged in, you will be able to choose one theme to view in all forums.
Regarding Avatars:
Effective 12/13/06, new registered users are able to have an avatar. You will find two categories, one category for each show, in which to choose from.
Regarding The Arcade:
Update: 17 June 08
The ability to play games in the arcade comes when you have reached 150 posts. See SGC Cadets section for more details.
Suggestions and Complaints:
Please pm a member of the staff if you have a complaint. Suggestions can either be pm'd or posted in this forum (The Briefing Room).
SGC Cadets:
Update: 29 April 2009
Once you reach 150 posts and in good standing for two consecutive months, you will become an SGC Cadet. At this point you will be able to:
- Have 15 more pm's than before for a total of 25
- request read receipts for private messages you send
- start poll threads
- post events to the calendar
- view user pages
- play games in the Arcade
This change will not be automatic. It requires a board admin to change your status so if you've reach 150 posts, if nothing else, shoot cb49747 or one of the staff a pm letting us know.
SGC Explorers:
Update: 17 June 08
Once you reach 350 posts and be in good standing for four consecutive months, you will become an SGC Explorer. At this point you will be able to:
- Have 5 more pm's than before for a total of 30
- Have images in your signature no bigger than 500 pixels wide and 200 pixels tall
- New Avatars available on the board.
- Allowed avatar size up to 100x100
- view blogs and have your own blog
SGC Friends:
Update: 17 June 08
Once you reach 500 posts and have been an active member for at least six consecutive months, you are eligible to become an SGC Friend. At this point you will be able to:
- Have 20 more pm's than before for a total of 50
- Ability to upload your own avatar.
- Ability to upload an animated avatar.
- The ability to be invisible in the Who's Online section of the board (be anonymous if you like).
- The ability to change the title under your username to whatever you like.
- Can delete own posts.
- Can upload images, and other material to the site.
- The ability to upload an image for your signature.
500 posts is the minimum post count, and six consecutive months is the minimum time, but the staff will also look at quality of posts and how you have interacted with the community before making the final decision. If a person does not become an SGC Friend when this requirement is reached, that does not mean they still can't become one in the future. You will know when you've become an SGC Friend via a PM from one of the staff.
At the moment, we do not have a size restriction for images for this group. We're trusting members of this group know not to have a signature image which is too big and distracting and can show good judgment on the matter. :)
*A good way to get into this group is to start thoughtful discussion threads.*

Reputation Points
Reputation points are something anyone can give to anyone here on the board. If you really like what someone said, give them a positive rep point. If you really didn't like something someone said, you can give them a negative point, but that could breed hostility so I'd warn caution before you do that.
You can see user reputation levels in peoples posts in the upper right hand corner of a post box. For example, I have a whole bunch of green boxes which if you put your mouse over it, it says that you have the heart of a general. That means the rep points are real high.
When you start out you'll have one gray box there. If you scroll over it says that you are an unknown quantity at this point. It'll turn green after you gain some points.
You can leave a reputation for someone by clicking on the scales icon in the upper right hand corner of the box. You might have to right click and open in a new window. There you can choose "I approve" or "I disapprove." If you approve, you are giving that person 1 reputation point. If you disapprove, you are taking away 1 reputation point from that person. You also have a comment section.
The cool thing about the rep points and being able to leave comments is it's a nice little way that you might make someone's day with a nice, friendly little comment to make them feel better.
If you give someone a reputation, it's worth 1 rep point (positive or negative depending on what kind of reputation). If an admin (Jack O'Neill, NewFanAllAround or Angelica Constantine) gives you a reputation, it's worth 10 points (positive or negative).
Here are some basics that we try to give rep points for...
1. When a new person posts a thread in the Mess Hall to say hello.
2. If I see someone being especially nice to someone else on the board.
OH! And in case you want to know what the levels are. Here you go...
