**********

Aside from Vala's humor in this episode, I thought it was rather bland. Another dead end which had a deadly end for some. The extra people made it obvious right from the beginning that some were going to die. It's classic sci-fi, one which Star Trek introduced. Bring the extra crew so that they can die while our heroes find a way out.

I found the end to be very dissatisfying. No idea how the others from the SGC found out about the bug and found a cure from the lizard in time. It just suddenly jumped to the SGC and they were all fine and having a laugh over coffee.

So I thought that whole plot was rather lame.

Vala was hilarious, though I don't think it was that great for her to imitate Pirates of the Carribean there towards the beginning. :p

I was so bored!

I hate to say that because I really like the show.

However, I too did enjoy Vala's part (except the end). I just thought it was stupid of her to be standing there on those crates no less. But the rest of it was nice. Funny, the only time she really opened up, she was in the middle of the hallway and not in the office environment.

I loved her in the hallway.

It was so obvious that Wolze or however you spell his name, was testing her. I figured that from the moment he made his offer. So predictable.

On the planet, did they ever explain why it was so dark? I never figured that out.

And did anyone else think that town they walked through looked exactly like the town where they found Merlin's library?

No I really didn't think about how the town looked, but I'm watching the rerun now, so I'll pay attention.

Edit: It was light outside when Teal'C came out of the cave. If you pay attention when they show from Teal'C point of view (looking up at the dude in the mask) it is light and clear skies behind him.

However, I thought it was light outside when they were walking through the woods (or atleast dusk). So, I had assumed they got there right before it got dark. But, I suppose that the planet would be just long nights, short days. Remember, the planet that was always red?

Oh yeah, I was not very happy at all with the ending. Of course, I was already mad because the hubby was flipping back and forth between the game and the show. Grrr......

Did ya give him Snarf's look?

It seemed to me like they had been on that planet for a rather long time, but maybe not. They did mention that the bug made them drowsy faster than normal, but it still seemed like they were on the planet for more than a day.

I wondered about the time line too because they talked about being awake for over 24 hrs (36 hrs is my personal best). I think we can chuck this question in the same box with "how did they get better".

I'm not sure how long my personal best was because of a 12 hour time change. I went on a mission trip once, barely got any sleep the night before, flew out early afternoon, didn't flight out of Los Angeles until around 2:30-3:00 my time, 12 hour flight where I was so uncomfortable I couldn't ever sleep, so when I arrived at our destination, it had probably been close to 36 hours since I'd really slept. When we got there, we were taken to a place where we would sleep for the night before boarding a smaller plane early in the morning, it was early morning there when we arrived at about 6 or 7 in the morning. The sun was just beginning to rise as the airplane landed. All I wanted to do when we got to the place where we were going to sleep for the night was sleep right then. They told me I couldn't. They encouraged us all to shower, then come down for breakfast, so we did. Then they forced us to go out shopping for the morning. I didn't want to shop, I just wanted to sleep. We got back early afternoon, at that point it was probably around 48 hours since I had slept. I was feeling so sick at that point that it felt like the ground was shaking beneath me. Would they let me go to sleep? No, I had to gather with everyone in the living room for a meeting to discuss the families we'd be staying with for the two weeks we were there and different things to expect. The meeting lasted a couple of hours after which we were finally allowed to go take a nap. I think I only got in about three or four hours but after that I felt reenergized.

So I did feel some sympathy for them. I know all to well how horrible it feels to have to stay awake long past any time your body began telling you it was ready to shut down for the night.

I think the sgc had not heard from sg1 in awhile, and the general decided to send in a team with hazmat suites to retrieve them. As for finding a cure, they did explain that with Carter's notes and the sample Teal'c had they were able to make an antadote quite quickly. As I'm sure Sam would have done had she just had a bit more time.

As for the episode as a whole, I agree it was a bit boring, and Vala was the only thing going for it.

I hate to say it, but unless SG1 picks up the pace, this maybe the last season. And if SG1 did end, it would make the Atlantis series a bit more believeable. By this I mean they would not have to explain why the people on Atlantis are not worrrying about what is happening with the Ori back on Earth.

I haven't had a problem with this. The Atlantis people are worried enough about the threat they're facing, the Wraith. They might have heard about the Ori, but as threats usually go, unless the threat is on your own doorstep, you tend not to care as much. They've never seen an Ori themselves and most likely don't grasp how serious a threat they are.

Furthermore, it's also believable that any conversation that the people in Atlantis have about the Ori takes place off the camera, during other times, as the show doesn't cover everyone's conversation 24-7. Plus the way it looks is that we will see them face the issue when Atlantis people cross over onto SG-1. We don't see SG-1 ever talking about the Wraith. They would only do that when they cross over onto SG-1.

Will this be the last season? I don't know. The show has now reached the status of being the longest running Sci-Fi show, I think. I read that somewhere. But it still seems to have an incredibly strong fanbase. I think it will continue into an 11th season as long as the actors are willing. It's hard to say. This episode isn't the first time I've seen an unimpressive SG-1 episode. Unimpressive, but it wasn't bad.

One positive thing was that when Landry showed up at the end, he asked SG-1 about their condition only making reference to Dr. Lam. The less we see of Dr. Lam, imho, the better. I find her to be an incredibly weak character.

I suspect she isn't in many of the shows because she just had another baby about 4 months ago (I think). I believe it was early this year.

I suspect in a while, she will be in more episodes. Although, I have to agree, her character isn't one of my favorites. It's a little sad because I really liked her in Andromeda.

I think she might have been better received if they didn't immediately throw her into a personal drama story with General Landry. I don't think we ever saw any personal drama's with Dr. Fraiser.

I found this episode boring, with a cool bio problem though. I definitley liked Fraiser more than this new doctor... Wait, have we even seen the new doctor like... at all recently? :p

There were a few scenes with a doctor last season.

Was doing some editing and reread this thread. That is so funny because that is exactly what we have to do in our house. LOL!
