Well since no one else apparantly wants to talk about it, I guess I will.
Okay episode, lots of fun humor, I actually liked Picardo's role better in this episode than when he's appeared previously. The last minute rescue did seem a little too cliche though.

I would have started the thread, but I was up until 1am.....wait 2am studying. But, did manage to watch the show.
I too just hate, hate, hated the ending. No explanation (as usual) no nothing. I really like this show, but that no explanation on some of the episodes is really getting on my nerves.
Anyhow, I did like the little moment betwee Daniel and the female delegate (forget her name). That was a nice little conversation they had.
But, I have to admit, there wasn't a whole lot to the episode though. While, I found a few moments nice, on the whole, there wasn't much there. But, I will admit, I did like the conversation Sam had with what's his name about making the people feel better.

I agree, I loved seeing Sam put her foot down with that guy. And if I were one of those people, I wouldn't want to be told everything's going to be swell if those people thought differently. I'd want to know what we're up against, not a fantasy.
I thought it was very funny when Cameron at the end said that he decided that they would watch Starship Troopers.

I liked this episode, especially the little argument between Cameron and Jackson. Reminded me of Oneill and Jackson.

Oh, I forgot about the Starship Troopers comment. That actually made me chuckle a bit.

yea, me too. Did you get the connection with the bugs?
Colonel Carter

That's why it was funny.

Yeah, I totally got the connection. I agree with Carter, that is exactly why it was so funny, but was likely lost on Teal'C which is humorous in itself.

I only ask because my wife did not get it, but then she is not a scifi freak like my self.

Are you talking about your wife?
I saw Starship Troopers years ago. The only thing I could tell you about it was that it was about soldiers fighting big alien bugs and I think there was a nude scene in there. Anyhow, once was enough for me, I never had the desire to watch it again.
Dune I want to watch again, even though the whole heart plug thing totally grosses me out.

I saw ST with my hubby years ago and while amusing had no intention of watching it again. Actually, the only reason I went to see it was because a girl I went to highschool with (Denise Richards) was starring in it and was one of her first major movie roles.

That's pretty cool. I never heard of anyone I grew up with becoming famous. Guess I'll have to be the one. ;) HA!

yes I ment my wife. Sorry.
Do you still know Denise Richards? or just from High School.

No. Just from highschool. We had a few classes together. She's really nice. We have also have had a few football players (no one famous though) go on to play in the NFL. Had a few alumni play in the NFL as well.
Not sure how, but our highschool had a knack for getting prior NFL players coach our highschool football team.

Have you had a reunion yet? It would be cool if she went.

The school has had them, but I have been out of the country when they happen.

I don't like the idea of the Chinese or any other government trying to take control of the stargate programme. The US Air Force have been doing just fine so far.
It sounded like the Chinese delegate knew of a card her superiors had to play to gain control. I wonder whether it's the threat of going public or something else.

Yeah, but if our government found out another government had a Stargate, I'm sure we'd be doing the same thing.

I say give each contry that wants one their own off-world base (which they would pay for, of course) and a basic crash-corse in what the Stargate is and some info about what they can expect out there in the galaxy. A similar idea was implemented when Russia asked to have their own SGC team.

Yeah, but they had a gate didn't they? How would you facilitate giving each country their own site and then send them there and they wanting to come back whenever they want?
Or do you mean, send them out there and then just let them be?

Russia had their own SG team, at least for a while. They were in The Tomb and Metamorphosis. They operated in the SGC, using the gate that was there, not their own gate. Also, it makes sense that as the USAF branches out and builds offworld bases, and as focus shifts from the SGC to Atlantis, the SGC would almost begin to turn into a kind of Grand Central Station for all the various off-world operations going on. I think other countries would be very happy with their own offworld bases, as long as they were allowed to come and go through the SGC pretty much whenever they want. At the very least, we could allow them to open the gate for regular communication with their superiors.
Anyway, I can see how some of the logistics of it might be complicated, but I bet it would keep China and the International Oversight Advisory from pressuring SGC and prying into how the SGC is run and what goes on there and stuff.

Off-world bases, or maybe one off-world base with equal representation from the nations that know about the gate, could pacify them, at least for a while.
If they need to get back to Earth, they can come through the SGC.
