Well I saw the season 5 finale tonight and the episodes preceeding. So I saw Daniel's ascension. It was so sad. I especially felt bad for Sam who seemed the most upset about it.

Question. Like in the current season in the opening credits, I see Daniel confront Anubis with some light thingy. When did that happen? From the synopsis's I've read, Daniel never appeared in season 6, then they stumbled across him in the opening episode of season 7 not remembering anything of his past life. And from what I've read, it seems like he's lost his ascension at that point.

So why did he lose his ascension?

What was that power I see in the current opening credits of him confront Anubis? I had figured it was after he ascended.

And was that lady he saw in the episode where he ascended an Ancient?

And from what he said, they'd met before. When did he meet her?

Yeah, I saw those episodes last night too.. it was kinda depressing! :cry

I'm pretty sure he comes back towards the end of season 6 in glimpses... That's when that light thingy happens, I think... And I think he losses his ascension because he chooses to fight Anubis and somehow offsets the cosmic balance or something like that.

As for where he/they had met that woman (Ohma, I think was her name), I have no idea... I've missed that one... I don't think she was an Ancient, though.

Yeah, I think Michael Shanks made appearances in 1 or 2 episodes in season six. Almost like teasers. LIke he might come back to the show, he might not.

Does anyone know why the actor wanted to leave the show for a year?

There were a lot of rumors, but the best explanation I've ever seen/read was that he was disappointed in the direction the show was going. Specifically the relationship of Carter and O'neill. Although, people really believed they should be together Michael Shanks felt it would mess up the feel of the show had they gotten together. Not only because both characters were working together, one was in command of the other and consequently (if you wanted to be as realistic as possible) one would have to leave the team. He felt the characters would not be able to function properly on the team had they been put into a love "triangle".

Not to mention that most shows seem to die out after two lead characters get together like that.

However, I don't understand that as a reason because I didn't sense they were ever heading them in that direction. I couldn't believe the show would do that and force one of them to leave the team.

Well, there were several episodes where their feelings came to the surface. However, had that happened, I think it would have been a secret from atleast General Hammond if not the rest of the team. If it ever surfaced it would (I believe) be at the series finale.

I also heard that MS wanted to pursue other acting possibilities, which, I'm guessing, didn't pan out too well... :gvup Bad for him, great for us! :rollin

I know he did a lot of guess roles and/or cameos on other shows/movies. I didn't see him in any stand alone rolls. I could be mistaken. I just don't remember seeing him in any.

I did like his appearance as a cyborg in his wife's show Andromeda. That was a pretty good episode.
