It's official. I ran a news search on Yahoo, saw it posted in multiple places, including a big article posted just two days ago on Monday at Gateworld confirming that the Sci-Fi Channel has in fact signed SG-1 up for a ninth season.
It's been a rough week for me at work, I needed this cheering up!

Both Stargate SG-1 and its spin-off series Stargate Atlantis have been renewed for another season, The SCI FI Channel announced today, ending months of speculation. The two series will return for 20-episode seasons, to commence filming in March for a summer premiere on the cable network.
It will mark an amazing ninth season for SG-1, which has been a ratings powerhouse -- both in new episodes and daily reruns -- for SCI FI since moving to the network in 2002. The series will also tie The X-Files for bragging rights to the longest-running science fiction series in U.S. television history.
MGM is still in negotiations with the cast of Stargate SG-1 for Season Nine. Of note is actress Amanda Tapping's ("Samantha Carter") new baby, who will be born in March -- right around the time filming is scheduled to begin. Speculation has also flown that star Richard Dean Anderson ("Jack O'Neill") could ask for his shooting schedule to be reduced even further, perhaps even so far as to make him a recurring character instead of a regular.
