I thought Cassandra couldn't go near the Stargate. They figured that out in the first season episode where we met her and she almost died because of some Goa'uld device. Once they took her a good distance from the gate, she was fine.
Just being in the mountain was dangerous for her.
So then why, in the second season, did they take her back there to see Sam? Shouldn't that have been putting her life in danger?

they did something to disable the device, I thought... but now that I'm thinking about it, I don't remember what they did... have to watch that episode again...

All I remember is that they said once Cassandra had been taken far enough away from the gate, the device began breaking down again and being absorbed into her system. Thus one of the reasons I thought Cassandra had to stay on earth instead of finding a new home on another world - because going even near the Stargate would be deadly for her. I assumed that if she went near to the Stargate again, the device which had been reabsorbed into her body would pull itself together again.

THat would explain why she was at Dr. Frasiers memorial at the Stargate.

Did another actress replace Cassandra after her season 2 appearance?
