In "Fragile Balance" in season 7, we found out that humans closely resemble what the Asgard looked like thousands of years ago which is why they've been so closely studying them, waiting for them to evolve enough to the point where they can use them to fix their cloning problem.

I've got a slight problem with this. If humans are not yet advanced enough, why are they still looking at humans when we know for a fact that Jonas's people are more advanced, namely in the area that the Asgard seem to be saying the humans of earth are lacking and that's in the mental capacity. I would think that Jonas's people would be to the point where the Asgard could use them in that way (not really sure how to word it exactly).

The Tollans were also a more advanced race. Why then do we not see the Asgard checking these people out? It doesn't make sense to me because I really do think that Jonas and his people would be to the level the Asgard are looking for.

I'm not absolutely sure about this because back when Jonas was with SG1 I had asked someone (can't remember who) if he was an alien race or humans on another planet. I was told his people were an alien race, so they may not be close enough (even though smart enough) genetically to clone for their purposes.

Using this theory, it might be the same for the Tollan as well.

Well the Tollan are human, they're just more advanced than the people of Earth. Daniel suggested that the reason for that may be that they didn't suffer through a Dark Ages like earth did.

They have said that Jonas's people are aliens to the people of earth, the same is said for the Jaffa. However we know that the Jaffa were humans who were transformed into Jaffa by the Goa'uld. So basically all the Jaffa are are mutated human beings, yet they call them aliens. So I'm wondering that even though they called Jonas's people aliens, if they are just more advanced human beings. I still think they would be closer to what the Asgard would need though. :thor

In that case, it's probably just going to be one of those questions that will never be answered.
