I had this crazy thought last night when I watched "Lost City." What if Anubis is really Senator Kinsey? At some point Kinsey is infected by a Goa'uld. At some point he travels back in time. Since the Goa'uld can sustain his life for thousands of years. The Goa'uld who infects Kinsey is called Anubis and together they learn how to ascend and it's their ascension which causes the Ancients to decide that Goa'uld's can not ascend. He's kicked out but doesn't become fully human again.

Anubis seems to have more interest in earth than any of the other system lords. Why? Is it the part of the host which survives who is bent on destroying SG-1?

Like I said, crazy thought.

It's definately an interesting thought, but isn't Anubis (in a different host) frozen on another planet?

I'm not sure. I haven't seen every episode of the eighth season yet, so I'm not sure if they've mentioned what happened to him after last season's finale. I thought though that the person who was taking over different people's bodies in that one episode this season was Anubis. Was it someone else? Daniel said that if the Ancients found out they would punish whoever it was.

Your title is finally working. :) Hopefully it will automatically adjust when you reach the next level.

Hmmm...Don't exactly remember that episode. Although, it's plausible that we are talking about the same episode and I just don't remember Daniel saying that. I'll have to research it a little.

I did a little hunting after I mentioned it above. It's the third episode this season titled "Lockdown." Here's a quote according to tvtome...

Jack: You'd think getting blasted out of orbit would slow (Anubis) down.

Daniel: We let the Ancients handle (Anubis).
Jack: Yes, because they've always been so good at it.

So, after tonight's episode, what do you all think?

My thought that Kinsey would become infected with a Goa'uld has now happened.

When Daniel asked the Goa'uld in Kinsey what his name was, he refused to answer. In my opinion, it makes the most sense that the only Goa'uld who would have good reason not to tell Daniel who he was would be Anubis. Though if it is Anubis, I'm not sure if it't somehow the Goa'uld the defeated at the end of last season and somehow still exists or if it's as I've thought and Anubis infects Kinsey, then somehow travels into the past and over the many thousands of years becomes so powerful. Although that would be somewhat confusing considering his existence thus far and why the Goa'uld wouldn't kill him if they knew it was him. Though if he's not told anyone that identity, it would make sense.

But has any Goa'uld in the past ever acted beligerent in making it known who they are?

But if you follow the actions of the Trust right before Sam and Daniel lost the signal, they opened a box, and Kinsey freaked out at what was inside. Including explanations that happened later (The trust in the Osirus' ship had to go find another system to play in and got caught, and they must have brought back bunches of symbiotes) it becomes obvious (well, to me anyway) that the thing in the box was a symbiote. Therefore it couldn't be Anubis, because how could a bunch of goa'uld from some other system get Anubis' symbiote from the frozen planet it was dumped on.

In what episode is it said that his symbiote was dumped on a frozen planet?

Actually, this would support one of my theories (my first thought concerning this idea) which is that the Anubis we've seen SG-1 contend with already was in fact Kinsey. That Kinsey was infected with the Anubis Goa'uld, then somehow went back in time and became as powerful as he did. So my theory would be the Goa'uld inside of Kinsey right now is a very young Anubis, ready for being put in a host and not the much older Anubis we've encountered thus far. Thus showing us the beginning of Anubis.

It was in the LOCKDOWN (http://www.gateworld.net/sg1/s8/803.shtml) episode.

At the very end of this synopsis, it states that Carter sent him to an ice world.

That was the episode where his spirit was possessing people, right? Initally it started in a Russian who was then transferred to SGC. I'm sketchy on the remembering the details at the moment however. I'm not remembering how they got an invisible entity to leave like that. And was he ascended again? I'm thinking he would be able to leave that planet on his own. Wait, was he in possession of a body that then went through the gate?

Anyway...

Thinking, this may prove to be interesting as well. Anubis was among the Russians before he went back to SGC. He may very well have had his hand in helping start the Russian takeover. He could have recognized this world and time as being his first joining with a human and helped set that plan into motion.

Or maybe I'm just stretching here. :teyla

I'm not remembering how they got an invisible entity to leave like that.

They didn't get him to leave. The Russian knew he was going to die, so told Anubis to take him. He (Anubis) subsequently took over the control room in an attempt to leave earth. But, Carter was able to change the location. She sent him to the ice planet. It showed at the end of the episode that Anubis (in the Russian body) completely frozen within a few seconds of coming through the gate.

As far as Anubis having his hand in the Russian takeover that is very plausible, however, I thought that had more to do with the box filled with symbiotes brought back by the people Kinsey was working with. So, it's also plausible, that they very well did this to themselves, unless someone knew how greedy they were for power/weapons that they planted the box to be found.
