Here's an interesting article to read over at Gateworld (http://www.gateworld.net/news/2005/12/tappingisg-1iiswheremyhear.shtml).
Stargate SG-1 is going to be over soon. I would be surprised if it lasts beyond season 10 just because Jack is gone and it's just not the same. Amanda Tapping doesn't seem to know what's going on with her character but is being asked to appear a lot on Atlantis? To me it sounds like they may be planning for her character to make a permanent crossover to Atlantis when SG-1 is done.
Which I think would be great because Sam is such a great character and I think it would only help to boost ratings.
Although I hope if they do that they don't try to do another romance thing with her and a major character.

I know I'd definitely be watching Atlantis if Sam was there.

I'm not sure if I would like that, but if they did, I wouldn't mind seeing her and Rodney getting into a couple of tiffs.

Just as long as they don't become a couple. :hug

I personally think that Atlantis has enough brainpower as it is. I also can't imagine the SGC being able to function without Carter. Whenever there is any kind of problem, it's pretty much up to either Daniel or Sam to figure out a solution. I can't imagine either of them leaving the SGC and permanently going to Atlantis, at least not until SG-1 stops airing. Even then, I would think SG-1 would end with Carter still based on Earth. It makes much more sense for me to have Daniel go to Atlantis, since he's Mr. Ancient-guy. Plus, as I said, the very presence of Carter (on a permanent basis) would negate the role of Zelenka, and reduce basically reduce McKay to doing what Zelenka does now. After all, everybody knows Carter will always be smarter than McKay.

Well I assumed that if they crossed her over it wouldn't be until after SG-1 is over. I get the feeling season 10 will be it for SG-1, but I could be mistaken.
She might be smarter, but I think seeing them interact like we have in the past on SG-1 would be a lot of fun. McKay and Carter are really funny together.
Zelenka is just a recurring guest star. Plus he adds a certain level of humor that I don't think Sam coming on would completely diminish him.
I can't imagine SG-1 staying in tack after the show. They all retired after last season but Cameron managed to pull them back together. I really forsee the end of the series being the end of SG-1 with the knowledge there would be a new SG-1 team to take over after they're gone. I could see both Sam and Daniel being regulars on Atlantis.

I agree with John, I think if Carter went to Atlantis Rodney and Zelanka would become obsolete, and I don't want to see that.
I would think that Jackson would fit in better.
Here is a thought though.
What if they did another spinoff of Stargate with Jackson and Carter somewhere in the pegasis galaxy.

Not without Jack and Teal'c. Just Sam and Daniel wouldn't feel right. Or maybe Sam, Daniel, and Teal'c. If you want just two and since we know RDA wouldn't be up for it, I could most see it being Sam and Teal'c.

First off, I don't forsee any more spin-offs. As much as we'd all like to see more of our favorite characters, and as much as we'd like the writers and creative minds explore more of the Stargate universe, I just don't see another SG-1 spin-off based on what we know now. Also, I agree with CB that Daniel makes the most sense
BY FAR to go to Atlantis. Not only was he Ascended, thus giving him a kind of connection to the Ancients that most others probably can't understand (even though he doesn't remember being Ascended), he is the historian, the archeologist, the anthropologist.
Carter would have enough to do here. R&D at Area 51 would be like Sam's ultimate dream job in the sense that she would still be able to do important work, but she would actually be able to have some kind of life outside of work for once.
I also don't see Teal'c being a part of a spin-off. His place will be with the new Jaffa Nation once he finishes his time with SG-1. I can't imagine a situation in which he would go somewhere else, rather than return to Rya'c and Bra'tac and enjoy the freedom that he has worked so long and hard for.
As for Cameron, he is the next O'Neill in many ways. When SG-1 goes off the air, he will still be in command of the team.
