Anyone with graphic arts talent?

I'd love to replace the background image on the message board if anyone can make a nice looking Stargate themed background that isn't too big in file size that it takes forever to load. I swiped this gate background of some site and have found a serious lack of options when it comes to Stargate themed background images useful for web sites and message boards. Usually when I enter stargate backgrounds into a search engine I get a bunch of desktop wallpaper designs.

Well, I ah can't do backgrounds that I know of...I never really tried but I am not bad at Avatars and Icons and such. I am not the best mind you I taught myself so if anyone wants something like that I can try.

Thanks anyways. But.... yeah, now that I have seen it... I happen to have m4d sk1llz in Photshop CS2

:p Im sure theres someone who could do better than me. But for blending diffrent images, editing certain photos or whatnot to make them a large backround, or just a custom backround of... random things thrown it to make it look pretty, and with a dash of Photoshop whoring, it could be done easily :p

As for creating my own pictures <,< hah, im not much of an artist...

If you are serious then E-Mail me with some good pictures, general descriptions of what youd expect for what forums, that sort of thing, and ill get back to you on it. I dont have much of a life so... XD

I requested it back when I was running ezboard. I don't know if Jack's interested in changing any of the theme backgrounds or adding new ones.

If you have any ideas for new themes go ahead and let us know what your thinking and will get it up.

As for Carter, if she wants different back ground images, well give her some images. I'm all for keeping the look and feel of this board current.

What I like about the backgrounds here is that they aren't too big or too distracting. When I was asking if someone could make a nice background, I was thinking about something more like the Stargate background, an image of the stargate faded in the background, in that regard.

However, if you can come up with a nice design for the board, we'll consider it. :)

Boy you are not a ghost Angelica. If you have any avatars or any images that may be usefull send them to carter for her aproval and she will put them up. Also there is a place on this site for you to post photos and images that you would like to share. Again not sure who can post photos but if you really want to put some up, I'm sure we can get you access.


Also if there is anyone who has an idea for a theme, let carter know and she will check it out and see if we can use it. The problem with themes is that if we get a whole bunch it takes that much more time to update the site when changes are made. So I'm thinking I would like to keep the themes down to 6 not including the default. That leaves space for two more so get your ideas in now.

I didn't respond because you said you didn't do backgrounds but avatars and icons. I'm not aware that we need any, but you can always make some and we'll take a look at what you got and might add them. :)

Alright I will try and get a background going and I will gather all the icons and Avitars I have and let the Major have a gander at them. Don't know how soon but....I ya get my point...I'm ranting...LOL:8:

The trees are the SG-1 theme. The clouds are the Atlantis theme. If you could come up with a background that is SG-1 or Atlantis related which isn't too big in size so that dial-up modems don't spend forever trying to upload the background, with matching buttons (they don't have to be the same size and shape as the ones we have currently), that's pretty much all I can think of as far as requirements. I think the best way to handle it would be to let members of the board vote on if they like it and want to see it used as a theme. :)

Dracus and Angelica - you have both expressed interest in designing backgrounds for the board which I thank you for your willingness to help.

Here's a general idea of what we're looking for in regards to background designs.

1. Stargate oriented - it has to be identifiably Stargate
(We'd like to replace the tree and cloud background with something Stargate related)

2. Size matters - file size can not be too big that it takes too long for dial-up modems to load.

3. Simple matter - we don't want the background to be too complex or use a lot of colors. Words, like you see at the bottom of the board which are set directly against the background image need to be able to be read.

4. Seemless is a bonus but we can work around that if it's a really good background image.

I was thinking I might make a background that was in Egyptian Hyros. That spelled 'Stargate SG-1'. (yes, actual real hyroglyphs) Just an idea. What do you all think.
