Joe Flanigan talked about his two young sons over at Gateworld which I thought interesting enough to post.

They asked...
Do you let your two young children watch Atlantis?

His response...

"They watch certain things and for some reason they would occasionally come to work and they became obsessed -- my little one -- completely obsessed with Stargate Atlantis. He thinks that Jason [Momoa] and I actually leave for work, we go fly through space and kill bad guys and come back home in time for dinner. I prefer to be with them when they're watching it because, remember, they also think that I'm going through the process. Sometimes they can't distinguish when I'm actually being hurt, and whether it's make-believe.

"I think that when they reach the ages of six to seven, they're probably safe to watch ... but right now I tend to be with them if they're going to watch it. And then again, I personally don't really like to watch it 'cause I've watched it for so many times. My little one can barely pronounce Stargate Atlantis. "Tawgate Atlantes?" I try to persuade him to watch something else but he may go to the mat with me on it. So I find myself occasionally sitting there. And of course just watching and completely engrossed in the storyline, I'm looking at entirely different issues ... "Why are we at that side of the frame?" The inner critic comes out. "

Well I thought it was sweet.

It makes me think too. I can just imagine his character, John Sheppard, having two small sons on the show, say ages 2 and 4, running around Atlantis. I think that would be so much fun to watch John try to keep up with them and keep them out of trouble and mischief.

I let my 5 year old son watch sometimes. He does not fully understand what is going on, but he loves the army scenes as he calls them.

Your son might have a different perspective though if he saw you on the show. ;)

my nephew, age 7, and neice, age 5 and 2, all watch it, rather they understand it or not is another story, I think my nephew does, but, I'm not sure about the girls. If my nephew doesnt understand, he usually ask's me what they mean by something and I'll explain it to him as best I can, or I'll tell him "I'll explain when your older and can understand better." mostly, he just likes the action. My youngest neice likes Teyla and my oldest neice liked Bekket, I have not allowed her to watch "Sunday" as she would be crying the whole time.... and for day's to follow. They only get to watch it if I tape it for them though because it comes on at 12:30 on Saturday night... technically Sunday morning. So, I usually only let them watch the ones I think they can understand and they won't scare them.

They would totally be interested if I were really in them, though, I wish I could be, I just don't see it ever happening.
