So, I'm really thinking hard about where they can go with the characters in the show. Now, when SG1 came out, I was all peeved that Sam was the only female. But then they got Dr. Frasier and had a few good storylines that involved women. So, I'm happy.

But, now there is SG Atlantis. And this may be only because it's only half way through the initial season, but I find it odd that 1) Dr. Weir is suppose to be a main character, but there are clearly episodes where you "barely" see her and 2) I find it odd that they show Tala (sp??) way more often than they show Dr. Weir.

Do you find that odd or do you think Tala is suppose to bring in the "male" audience, thus getting more air time?

Or am I way off my rocker here?

Well it fits in with my "it's too much like Star Trek" idea. The captain never went on missions, the first officer did.

I was fine with Sam being the only female on the team because the team felt so good together. They really couldn't change Jack and Daniel since they carried over from the movie. Two good looking white males. So they needed to add a couple minorities to the gang. So they chose a woman and an African American.

I like Dr. Fraiser as well and thought that she made a good addition.

I don't think that is so much a Star Trek thing as opposed to a military thing. Because when it comes down to it, most of those people are part of some sort of military or civilians working for the military.

At the end of the day (as morbid as this sounds) you want your commander to still be able to command and not getting hurt/killed on a "mission". I mean it was the same for SG1, TNG, DS9 and more. It figures SG Atlantis will follow.

But that said, I think they could still figure how to build in more TV time for her. General Hammond got plenty and I can only think of a handful of times he actually went through the gate. Or left the mountain on a work related mission.

Really? I think she gets more time than Hammond did. Actually, I'm fine with her not being in much. I can't stand her character. I can't stand the Canadian guy either and wish he would stay at Atlantis with her. Let the Scottish guy go on more missions. Dr. Carson Beckett is my favorite character in the show, then that Lieutenant guy (forgot his name).
