What's Up With?

So, I'm watching the rerun of "Underground" tonight. So, I'm watching the very end where Maj Sheppard is talking with Dr. Weir about the Wraith. I noticed he took off all his gear, even changed his shirt.

So, why did he leave on his 9MM? It was strapped to his leg in the very last scene. I was just wondering if he went through the hassle of taking everything else off, even changing his shirt, why leave on the weapon?

Just something that made me go hmmm.....

I would guess it's a precaution that he always carries a gun with him because he would never know when somethign might happen. If the Stargate suddenly was activated from off world and their shield failed or whoever found a way to get through it, he would want to have a weapon immediately accessible. And they still don't know what secrets Atlantis may be hiding, like that dark entity that the boy let out in that one episode. There could still be unknown dangers around. So I think it was probably just for those type reasons. I noticed Weir really got comfortable.

That's what made me notice it in the first place. She had gotten so comfy and he was still strapped for dear life. LOL! I thought about the same reasons you did, but none of the people watching the gate (computer techs I'm guessing) had weapons (that I could tell).

Just wondering.

Probably just a little quirk about his personality. Maybe he's like James Bond and sleeps with a gun under his pillow.
