View Full Version : Looking for a name

I'm currently working on a story called The Trials and Tribulations of Stephie. Stephie is a young marine who has found herself in an unusual situation. An ancient device has blended four different sets of DNA and given the resulting pregnancy to her.
Stephie is about 26, with long blunde hair, peircing blue eyes and a well muscled figure. Her father is a Czech ex-patriot and her American mother died many years ago.
I'm stuck for what this child could possibly be named so I'm turning to those with the knowledge to help me.
In no particular order, I present the gathering for your interpretation.
1. Ronon Dex
2. Carson Beckett
3. Radek Zelenka
4. Stephie Anderson
Please, help me out here

How about "Levia"(f) or "Levy"(m)?
The meaning of the name is: joined
The origin of the name(s) is/are: Hebrew
Levia is the feminine form of Levi
Levi means "joined in harmony" and is also Hebrew.
Given the gist of your story, it's a start...

hmmm, like the sound of Levy. Settled on it being a boy child and kinda liked some of the Hawaiian nakes I found.

ROFLMBO!
It's only because I've spent so much time in 'research purgatory' that I just automatically know where to go to find certain things.
I just KNOW that the FBI, CIA, FCC, McDonald's and probably Macy's are watching me. You can't do research for:
weapon calibers/statistics
poison/uses/symtpoms
PaveHawk helicopter statistics
narcotic drug affects/symptoms of withdrawal
Any and every God/Goddess in any and every known pantheon
Military protocol for: receiving medals
deployment of troops during battle
funeral traditions and duties
chain of command
requirements for civilians working
with the military
and all of the other things I've looked up over the years without calling attention to yourself. Of course, by now, when the alarms go off, and my ISP shows up, they probably just roll their eyes and sigh "What is she writing now?" LOL!

Better yet, in this particular situation, the fact that Robin is also a writer, gives her special insight and advice for BH.

Oh yeah, i feel the creative power alright, it's bound to be a great story. Shame it'll never make it onto this site. i'm starting to get that feeling, which is fanatastic. I'm always looking for adice on stories I should or shouldn't write

BH...as long as you're having fun writing it, that is ALL that matters. (At least in my opinion.) Whether you post it here, or somewhere else (fanfiction.net is a great place to put fanfiction if you don't have your own site), if you're having fun with the creative process, then go for it!
NF...ROFLMBO! That could certainly confuse newbies, couldn't it? :thanx::thanx:

cM and Dracus of course male. They pop in and out on occasion.

I'm having a blast, stirring up trouble all throughout the two seasons I'm using. Even I don't know what might happen next. but it's going to be interesting. Proabably won't go with Fanfiction.net, wraithbait might be a good option.

Just out of curiosity, what's wrong with fanfiction.net? You could always post a story in two places, then you'd get feedback from both sites...if that's what you wanted. I like fanfiction.net, but I actually haven't used any other sites for my fics...maybe I should branch out. It's your story, do it your way lol. :) Just my two or three cents.

Let's put it this way Wraithicator, I know for a fact the trio of stories that revolve around Stephie and the three guys wouldn't be accepted on fanfiction.net. I'd be better going to Warithbait because I know they accept more adult stories.
Angelica Constantine
03-04-2009, 02:35 AM
Is it that adult after her biological accident?
What did the three guys sleep with her or something?
Wait, Wait...I don't want to know...Carson is one of them...http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn313/AngelicaConstantine/Icons/smiley-outta-here.gif

Ah yes. The lovely 'censorship bureau'. Personally, I figure if a story is rated, if people don't want to read it, they can pass it by. Although there are idiots out there...I had a lady contact me, just livid that my site had 'adult' stories on it and 'no warnings'. I asked her if she had seen the 'landing page', the 'home page' or any of the introduction pages. Because all of those pages carry multiple warnings. She never responded, for some reason.
I know that there are some stories listed on fanfiction.net that are on the far side of 'R'...don't know if they've been given a hassle or not. (Don't really care either...the persons involved are not friends, nor people I would want to call friends.)
Anyway, BH, whatever you're the most comfortable with, go for it. Just be sure to put up a link here so that we can check the stories out when they're ready!

Ah. Gotcha. You people and your 'adult' fanfiction! Just kidding, no offense or criticism meant. :) Some people are offended by that sorta thing, just like most of you here are by slash. Personally, I opt not to read either. If a show isn't rated R, then I don't think the fanfiction should be. I tend to put slash and adult fics in the same sort of setting in my mind.
I agree with your position, Robin...a "don't like, don't read" policy makes sense to me. It's the same way I feel about Sam/Daniel fics...for some reason, there's a rather largish group of fans who think of it like incest...I've had some interesting reviews to that effect. That goes for any fanfiction, in my opinion.
Robin K

Slash is just wrong. As for the stories being adult...when Stargate SG-1 was on Showtime, it was a bit edgier and more adult. That changed when it hit Sci-fi, and prime time. Had to be censored for the kiddies. Personally, I don't think what I write for Stargate SG-1 is any different than what Battlestar Galactica shows. There are 'adult' fan fiction stories out there that are twisted, sick, and nothing but literary porn. Those stories I don't read.
I don't think there's a thing wrong with writing a show as it really would be. Believe me, the world is not G-rated. If you've ever had any experience with the military, what they show on Stargate is the 'cleaned up' version. If you think about the enemies, particularly the Goa'uld, they just 'skip over' what really happens. The hints are in the dialogue. Stargate SG-1 was never a kiddie show. The very premise is adult. And I'll stop now while I'm behind...*grin*

Yeah...I don't watch Battlestar Galactica either...lol

Yes AC, The trio of stories revolving around that group are all a little adult, some more than others. I can understand why some poeple don't like to read adult fiction and or slash fiction but I struggle to keep things clean, except for my piece called The Wind

Oh, I can understand the whole Adult story part as I write them...I just can't read others that involve Beckett. Sends shivers down me spine. And not in a good way. LMAO XD
I write to cannon (of the character), where as others totally stray. Ugg.
Good Luck with your story BH, Truly. :D
