Athosians on Atlantis

The Athosians are Teyla's people. At the very beginning of the series they were brought to Atlantis. But when the people from earth began accusing them of having a spy in their midst, they decided to leave Atlantis and live on the mainland.

My question to you is - do you prefer the Athosians to live in Atlantis or on the mainland?

Pros to living in Atlantis:
They add a different culture and show how two very different cultures can live together harmoniously.
They have children and elderly which adds unique elements to life on Atlantis. There's a level of fraility and kids can easily cause problems.

Cons to living in Atlantis:
They can distract from the main characters if given too much plot. Their cultural differences could cause unwanted tension.

I said on the mainland. I said this because I believe it makes the show better with a secure Atlantis and this is done easier with kids running around on the mainland than Atlantis. I think if the kids are in Atlantis it is to much like Battle Star Galatica.

I don't think having the kids running around Atlantis would make it like Battlestar Gallactica. I can't compare the two shows because BG is so dark and serious with no humor and Atlantis is lighter with lots of humor. If anything I would compare having kids running around to Star Trek: TNG.

But still it would be different because it's another culture.

I like the idea of them living on Atlantis better than them living on the mainland. I just think it adds more to the show and the characters to have a more diversified population like that.

Normally, I don't think it would be that big of a deal, but with so much of Atlantis still to be discovered it could cause for some hazardous situation, which was already addressed in season 1.

Actually I should clarify that I ment the old 80's Battle Star Galatica, not the new one. It seems that in that one there were kids running around all over the place.
