The SGC's main briefing room is located on this level, with a large retractable window overlooking the gate room. Here, SGC personnel meet, frequently with the Base Commander, to discuss mission specifics, take part in mission debriefings, or meet with important delegations.

The briefing room contains a large table with seating for up to ten people and an audio/visual unit to display data. A security monitoring system records all events that take place here and a stairwell leads down to the Stargate monitoring room.

The Base Commander's office is attached to the briefing room and a transparent window from the Commander's office opens into the briefing room along with a separate entrance from either the briefing room or neighboring hallway. The Commander's office has access to all key SGC systems, as well as a phone to the Joint Chiefs and a special hotline directly to the office of the President.

Just outside the Commander's office is the office of his aide and direct elevator access.

Wish my conference rooms in the Army were this nice. On occasion, we wouldn't even have a table....LOL

Hubby once mentioned that the Air Force were the 'favorites' of the Pentagon, and they 'got all the good stuff'...LOL!

The Air Force does get a big chunk of the money. I didn't understand that while I was in the Army, only because I always seemed to be in units that never got any money....LOL. But, I get that it's about the bigger "defense" picture. Thus, Navy & Air Force tend to get first dibs. Marines and Army get the leftovers......

Now, if you ask me, that's kind of backwards...I mean, who's the FIRST into a battle? *sigh* I suppose however that jets and ships do cost more...BUT...I think that every branch should be given the same basics. Why should the Army still be using buildings pre-Korean War, while the Air Force has brand new buildings? I think the structural aspects of a base should be the same, regardless of branch. But that's just me, and we have to remember that in the Pentagon, it's all about Politics and that 'squeaky wheel'.

I was astonished at the Pentagon. When Tim first began working there, it took so long for them to get him file cabinets, we had to go out and buy some cheap makeshift ones. He couldn't even get file folders. When he asked how he was suppose to file stuff, the guy he was replacing said "we just put it in a pile over here". WOW!

When I was stationed at Ft. Bragg, Tim worked in a pretty high speed, high security building. Meanwhile, I worked in "officially" condemned buildings. I kid you not when one day a soldier came and got me to tell me the roof fell on him. I thought he was kidding. So, I walked down the hall and wouldn't you know, a big chunk of the ceiling had fallen down. When they moved us, they moved us into a 3 level building with no AC and the windows were painted shut.....LOL!

Hey, remember what Jack said about the Pentagon losing entire countries? He wasn't kidding! LOL! Why am I not suprised? You would think that being the center of our military command it would be more...efficient. Silly to think that, eh?

I suppose they just put plastic or a piece of plywood over the hole and life went on? And that's typical...bet they had AC in Alaska! *grin*

ROFLMAO......They didn't even do that. They wouldn't fix it because the building was condemned (literally), so they refused to put the money into it. They just double checked and made sure there was no asbestos or exposed wires and left.

LOL! So typical...the building is condemned, but as long as it's still standing, they'd put people in it and use it!

What was super funny about that whole situation. The last day of our move, they were moving new people into the building and their response was "wow, this building is awesome". I never want to see what they were in before they moved into our old building.

I'm totally picturing them working on a log in the middle of the field (that's what was on the other side of the freeway).

LOL!
