So that's what it stands for. And the GDO transmits and IDC - Iris Deactivation Code - right?

That's correct.
I don't know that there is an official name. I recall seeing an interview with Michael Shanks who was asked that question and he said he didn't know. LOL. But, then again I think he also said he didn't know what NID meant either.
But, the big joke is that is actually stands for "Garage Door Opener". I'm sure RDA had something to do with that.
Makes sense.

Yep, actually RDA did come up with that one. I read it and I think it was in an episode when the gate was first installed.

Just read the novel of the pilot episode. They mention it there aswell. Shep asks Grodin what it stands for and he tells him. I'll quote in the afternoon.

From SGA Rising, by Sally Malcom.
Reluctantly, Sheppard raised his hand. He deliberatly didn't look at Sumner, but could sens the mans pleasure at this small display of ignorance. "Ah, I've must've missed that in my briefing."
"It's a GDO."
Well, that cleared that up. "What's GDO stand for?" Grodin hesitated before he answere, glancing around an then leaning in and speaking in a low voice. "Garage Door Opener, but don't tell anyone."
Sheppard grinned. That sounded like something O'Neill had come up with...

Owh, and the book also states IDC stands for Identification Code, but in SG-1 it's called Iris Deactivation Code.

According the the Stargate SG-1 Ultimate Visual Guide, IDC stands for Identification Code.
According to Stargatewiki and the Guide, it's always been Identification Code.
In dialogue, the characters have used 'deactivation code', although technically it's incorrect.

You're welcome. Until I looked it up, I thought it WAS "Iris Deactivation Code"!
Gee, the things I learn doing research...*grin*
