I'm curious. Did they ever say if there was a relation between the Asurans and the Replicators that Reese created?

I am sure they mentioned something about it. I will go have to look.

OK, I just read the whole episode and...

They mention about the human form replicators that Sg-1 encountered.

Quote from Gate world....From the ANALYSIS...of Episode Progeny.

This revelation about the possible origin of the Replicators -- at the hands of the Ancients -- explains the answers to two nagging questions from Stargate SG-1 mythology. First, how did the spider-like Replicators, intelligent but made up of inch-long blocks, learn to create First (the first human-form Replicator made up of nanites) by simply studying the android Reese (SG-1: "Unnatural Selection")? If nanite-based technology was their original form, it may well have been programmed in at a subconscious level.

Second, it explains why the Ancient library of knowledge downloaded into Jack O'Neill's brain happened to contain the schematics for a handy-dandy weapon capable of destroying a humanoid Replicator with a single shot, by disrupting the bond between the nanites. Clearly it was a technology with which the Ancients were quite familiar.

I will read the other Episodes involving the Replicators of the Pegasus Galaxy later, to give you more answers.

When they first met the Asurans, didn't Sheppard and Rodney find out that the Milky Way replicators were borne from the Pegasus ones, which were an experimental weapon to be used against the Wraith? I think it was something like that.

If that is the case, I wonder how Reese's came across the technology. You don't think she was inherently smart enough to create those on her own do you?

I may have mentioned this in another post and if I'm repeating myself or sounding way out in left field here I'm sorry...is it possible that Reese's 'father' was an Ancient with knowledge of replicator technology and created her with the ability to manipulate nanite-tech?

He just may simply not have made her aware (hid it in her "subconscious" somewhere) of how far she could take the ability and when the 'bug' replicators found her and studied her they learned the ability to create human-form replicators?

I may be completely out to lunch here though! :SC:

I had wondered something similar. But, why would he create Reese knowing the problems they had the first time?

Yeah, that does seem a bit odd to do something like that, especially knowing how poorly it worked out the first time around.

Maybe he was hoping to be able to perfect the process somehow, that eventually Reese and her 'toys' would someday work out to be better than the Pegasus replicators.

Since the Asurans modelled themselves after the Lanteans, maybe the Ancient who created Reese (if indeed it was an Ancient) was hoping to create a more ideal model for any eventual nanite replicators to shape themselves after. If that was the case it would seem that he didn't quite succeed in creating an ideal machine for the replicators to model after, she was a bit "unstable" methinks.

Just some theories...I'm starting to wonder if only the writers will ever know exactly what kind of history the replicators really have....:hmm:

I am wondering if Reeses 'Dad' was trying to create a daughter, not so much a machine. It is possible that her 'Father' who was an Ancient was one of the lesser scientist and tried experimenting on his own and as Reese said, She was made wrong. Perhaps he made a child like mind so she was easier to control, in his mind. But children are sooo un-predictable that it caused the destruction of a people on a world.

I do fully believe Reese was made by an Ancient. Reese and the Replicators (The Asurans) of the Pegasus Galaxy are too much alike. I am sure if Reese was taken too the Pegasus Galaxy the Asurans would have been able to fix her. No, doubt in my mind.

Now there's a scary thought! :wink:XD
She was dangerous enough on her own!

Makes you wonder what he thought once she developed the Replicators all over again. Also, I wonder how far apart the two events were (original creation and the creation of Reese).

Your right...its a thought.

Well, isn't it possible that the father of Reese was an ancient who created her BEFORE the ancients actually created the Asurans? Like in one episode of SGA, Dr Elizabeth found herself talking to herself from the past. She had gone back in time using a time-machine jumper created by a single ancient, which was later destroyed by the ancients.

Maybe the father of Reese created her, and the Ancients found her intriguing, so decided to create a whole race of them, which later turned out to be a disaster which they never should have done. :)

Just a thought.
