Shouldn't that be voiced by...coz I doubt MS could really fit in that suit. :hmm: LOLXD
I am kidding of course.
Ah, Yes...the little guy who has saved SG-1's butt a number of times. Really neat character. I liked him.

Thor seemed to be fascinated by humans in general, and Jack O'Neill in particular. He never seemed bothered by asking for help when he knew that the unique ways that the Tau'ri approached a problem could be of benefit. Basically, it didn't bother him to find someone 'dumber' to help solve the problem.
I always thought that Thor had a sense of humor, probably developed in self protection from dealing with SG-1 on a regular basis.
Thor was willing to come to the aid of the Tau'ri when needed, standing as proponent for putting Earth on the Protected Planets list in the treaty between the Asgard and the Goa'uld.
He also came to the aid of Gen. Hammond during the briefings that were revealing the Stargate Program to the leaders of key nations. When Kinsey was set to move in for the kill, to have Hammond removed as commander of the SGC, and to slither his way into that post, Thor arrived, and let it be known that the Asgard would prefer to have Hammond remain in charge. I always had the feeling that the Asgard Council wasn't exactly aware of that particular declaration.
On the list of 'stupid things the Stargate writers did', at the very top, is to have the entire Asgard race commit suicide. A race as advanced as the Asgard would have found a solution to their cloning problems, and never would have sought self-destruction. It was a lame way to 'wrap up' that particular story line. What can I say, the writers had been brain dead for about three years at that point. I suppose that 'series finale' was just the cumulation of all of that idiocy.

Ooo, smack-down of the writers, nice. And yes that was a stupid way of 'wrapping' up the Asgard. What a bunch of malarky, Asgards killing them selves. They would have found a way even if most went into stasis while others worked on solutions. Its dumb really. They would be excellent in the Pegasus galaxy.
If I am not mistaken there is still one who decided to stay on the Daedalus.
His name is Hermiod.
Got to keep the humans on the Daedalus on the straight and narrow...not!...XDXDXD

I suppose keeping one on the Daedalus is a way to make certain that the Asgard haven't disappeared completely. What irks me, and am I the ONLY one to remember this?...is that the ancient Asgard being had been found...I think "Revelations" was the name of the episode...it was the first mission the team went on after Daniel died. They met up with Heimdall on that planet at Thor's behest, to save him...and they managed to get that Asgard to safety so they could continue to study him, plus all of the information Heimdall had been able to collect. The team manages to save Thor from Anubis as well, although Anubis was able to extract a lot of knowledge from Thor's brain. Anyway, the point is, the Asgard were able to learn enough to thwart the Replicators, and then turn their attention to their cloning problem. Mass suicide? No way.

No, your not the only one to remember. In the stasis pod he was a tall humanoid. With a greenish light on him. So, yes I remember.

Yep, that's the guy! So you cannot tell me the Asgard couldn't come up with a way to save themselves. *grumbles* stupid writers *grumbles*

Yeah, I had a lot of issues with the wrap up of the Asgard too. But, the character of Thor I was so tickled with. Little stature, big, big funnies! I could never figure out his facination with Jack. And, I think he was sweet on Carter.
Oh, on a side note. I forget which season, but in the "extras" Amanda Tapping was talking about doing a scene with Thor which is a puppet. And, someone thought it was funny to have Thor "pat her bottom". I could not stop laugh at the thought of seeing that.

The Asgard suicide had me a bit confused too... even if they couldn't fix the cloning problem, they know how to store their minds in computers and given how intricately they've come to know things like Replicators... you'd think they would have come up with something.

I have always thought the Asgard had a sneaky plan stuck up their skinny sleeves so to speak; they had perpetrated hoaxes on humans for thousands of years to hide their identity, so why not another while they work on their own species specific problem. Hanging a "DO NOT Disturb" sign out on a galaxy border is just not going to stop folks of any species(especially humans) from sticking their collective snoots in . It would be more reasonable to have "ended" the story line with the "hope" the Asgard could overcome the genetics problem sometime later on and return as such in a renewed condition.

at least we know they're not all dead. and who knows, there could even be more of the little buggers in the galaxy where the destiny is.

That would be awesome! I know I'm one of the few who doesn't have a huge problem with the later seasons, but I do agree that killing the Asgard was stupid. Kind of like ending Star Trek by having all the Klingons commit mass suicide.

Yeah, I still enjoyed the later seasons but they definitely weren't as good. The Tok'ra were pretty much gone, the Asgard mostly just came around at the end... no Jack or Hammond... but I still enjoyed them in their own right.
Thor was always one of my favorites though, so the Asgard Explosion was kinda depressing.
