One of my favorite "Tau'ri" bad guys is Robert Kinsey. Self-serving, egotisical, and just as annoying as any Goa'uld, Kinsey has spent most of his time trying to either shut down the Stargate Program, or control it completely. He was involved in the NID, that nasty group of self-serving 'patriots' who believe that their way is the only way.

I have to admit, there was a bit of perverse pleasure in seeing Kinsey become a Goa'uld host. He's such a power-monger/control freak, it's like Karma swung around and gave him exactly what he deserved. I have to wonder just how much trouble Kinsey tries to give the symbiote...*grin*

Played by Ronny Cox, a terrific actor, Kinsey is the man we all love to hate! The thing of it is, when fans meet him at the conventions, he's such a sweet, kind man...they have trouble reconciling him with Kinsey, and find that suddenly they just can't 'hate' him. Whenever a fan admits this, Ronnie has said that he'll be intentionally rude to that fan, to 'give back' the ability to hate Kinsey. How awesome is that?

True Robin,...

His charactor, he plays on SG-1, was so remanicent of the charator he played in Robocop named Dick Jones. Also the charactor he played in Total Recall named Vilos Cohaagen...they were like a set up and practice for him to play Senator Robert Kinsey.
Those are just the ones that come to mind at the moment.

Those were very good 'bad guys'...and I agree, they were the precursors, the practice needed to so eloquently play the part of that nasty Sen. Robert Kinsey.

I believe a character can be too annoying and that is what this character is to me. It was like having my teeth pulled watching those episodes. Now that I have them on DVD and I come across one of those episodes, I can fast forward through his parts. I guess that shows what a good actor he is if he can make a person so annoying that you can't stand to watch.

Oh, geez now there was is a quality to put on his resume....Ahem, I can play charactors so anoying nobody can stand to watch me. XDXDXD

That's how I feel about Vala...not that the character in and of itself is bad, but the way she was brought to the show, and then so fundamentally changed, and shoved down our throats...*shudder* I despise Kinsey whenever he's on the screen...so certainly Ronny Cox has created a very believable character.

I'd forgotten about his Robocop days. Man alive, I hated his character in that movie too. I loved how he wasn't afraid to get in Jack's face.....well.....the SGC in general. I don't really like they way they wrapped up his character though. I would have loved to see Jack take care of him.
