It made me really sad to see Daniel in the padded room, but I realized just how good an actor Michael Shanks is because of it.

Yeah that!
Exactly.....
I really did like this episode. Way to go MS for stretching your acting abilities.

MS was excellent in this...I did question the fact that his friends, people who had trusted their lives to him, couldn't be bothered to check out his claims. Personally, if I had a close friend going through something like that, you can bet the farm I'd be checking out his/her claims. The fact that Janet was able to remain somewhat coherent throughout her ordeal, and that Sam listened to her, is a rather glaring example of this point. She couldn't/wouldn't believe Daniel, wouldn't even consider that he was telling them the truth, but she didn't blink an eyelash at following Janet's instructions.
There's a scene where Daniel is watching all of this from the observation room...and he has a look of such pain in his eyes (again, good acting). I always thought that part of that pain might have been for the fact that the very people who should have stood beside him, didn't. And as a result, Teal'c almost died, and Jack and Janet suffered as well. (Sam really didn't because she didn't have the symbiot, only the 'marker' in her blood)

At that point there was no believing or not believing because they had all been infected. Prior to that Daniel had no proof. And, it wasn't like they were without feeling. Sam was practically in tears when they went to visit Daniel. Plus, Daniel said himself, without any proof or direction to send them in (remember, all of Janets test came back negative, so what was she suppose to do) even he knew he looked a little crazy.

No, BEFORE the rest of the team was infected, none of them believed Daniel. None of them even attempted to give his claims the benefit of the doubt. This episode was actually a 'growing' event for the team, as they learned, for the second time, that Daniel was right. (The first time was when Daniel returned from the alternate reality with a staff wound. Regardless of that wound on his shoulder, they doubted him.) This helped to push home to Jack, Sam and Teal'c that while Daniel was the only one not a trained warrior, he was far from unable to identify an enemy, or to give 'intel' that he had learned. He went from being just the scholar, to being an 'asset' on the team.
I'm not saying that they were unfeeling...they cared a great deal, and it was painful for them to watch him in that situation. HOWEVER...had they listened to him, to his theory about what had happened to him, researched it just a bit, they would have avoided being infected themselves. There was a subtle shift in the team dynamics as a result of that experience. The rest of the team was more willing to listen to what he had to say, especially when it didn't concern his expertise in archaeology, anthropology or linguistics.
