Which character would make the best man for Sam?
Jack?
Pete?
Martouf/Lantash?
Orlin?
Ambassador Joe Faxon?
Agent Berrett?
Narim?
Or even... Fifth?

You didn't mention Daniel or Teal'c!
Personally, I have to admit I like Jack and Sam together. Just not to the extent that everything else in the show gets pushed to the back...

I really liked her with Pete. But, I also liked her with Narim as well.

I found Pete awkward... but that probably has to do that at the time he was on Stargate, he was also in a Dog Food commercial where he was really abnoxious.

LOL I know what comertial your talking about yukitoyu..."Your so happy..." LOL
But yeah...Pete was not a good match...not by a long shot.
For me the more I think about it and watch all the old shows....Jack is the only one that has always been by her side right from the get go. They have always had a professional relationship but is cirtain episodes it is very clear that they are ment to be together.
As for Martouf/Lantash...he was a nice coupling for a bit but as it showed in the one epi where the SGC became Grand Central Station and all diffrent variations of the SG-1 teams came through the gate. And Martouf/Lantash told Sam that they did not work out in the other time line. Whats to say they would in this time line. (He is cute though ;) )
But all in all...Jack and Sam have a better chemestry and would last the longest I am sure...they were ment for eachother. imo

ya, it didn't work out because she married Jack. lol In almost all alternate timelines, Sam ends up with Jack (unless you count the furture episodes where she's married to Ambassador Joe). It's like "I think we get the hint."
hehe

I don't think she and Jack would work out. Yes opposites attract, but how often do they stay together. Yes, sometimes they do.
Also, remember the episode where Carter was the only one left on Prometheous and the rest of the crew was on the alien craft? Both ships were in that cloud. She was seeing things as well. Well, remember when she thought she was talking to Jack and he said she was only really attracted to him because he was a "safe bet".
I think she would have been better off with Narim. He is more her speed. Too bad they never really tried to find out what happened to the Tolen when they could not gate to their world anymore.

Thing is when Sam was hullusinating...that was her own mind not really Jack himself. I think Jack would have a few things to say about her hulluci...ah ya get it.
Hey a "safe bet" is better than living out her life alone.
Besides...in the end they will end up together. If the writers are smart....ROTFLMAO
Besides I really do not think really they are all that oposite. Smarts aren't everything ya know.
Oh, and that episode where they had to change the past because the other SG-1 messed it up. Like 5,000 years ago. Sam and Jack were attracted to eachother even there. Sometimes fate is fate no matter what time line they are in. imo

I know, but the fact that she was hallucinating hearing him say that shows what was going on in her subconscious. Also, in those other times where the were together (i.e. the alternate universes, back in time, etc.) was she were she is now? An Airforce Colonel, former host to a Tok'ra, the daughter of a Tok'ra? Only in one ep was she those things and she had returned from her honeymoon and they never said who she was with. The die hard fans only assume that she was with Jack, for all we know she might have had a lost of sanity and married Pete.
But what do I know? LOL.

I'm not doubting that Narim, Martouf, Pete and other potential love interests in Sam's life all cared for Sam, but I thought Jack was the better man for Sam.
And Jack can't say how he feels or have a relationship while in the Air Force. The others didn't have commitments that with held them from acknowledging their feelings.

I'm not just looking at how popular the characters are and how they look good together. Sam needs a lot from her relationships, while Jack closes himself off. Not exactly condusive to good communications. Although, I will give Sam credit for getting Jack to open up a little, but I just don't think it is enough for them to make it work long term.
yukitoyu22
02-12-2008, 11:58 PM
Right, but I think if he wasn't in the military anymore, he'd open up a lot more. All you have to do is look at the little hints... The Time loop episode, the episode where they lose their memory and get a time-stamp, the episode where they get the upgraded speed with the armbands and the following episode where they had to admit their feelings... and when Jack traded Camulus to Ba'al because he didn't want SG-1 to be tortured like he was.

Oh, I guess that this is the best place to ask. Were J R Bourne and Amanda Tapping a couple in real life? I have found pictures of conventions and it's like he can't keep his hands off of her.

Oh, okay, Thanks Robin! I alway's knew I liked her for some reason, Sam has alway's been my role modal. Strong, Smart, and Brave "SSB". I like that she's been married for 14 years, the SAME MAN unlike other actors and actresses we hear about these day's.
But, do you know about Sam and Jack getting married? I've seen pictures that say they did in the episode 200 but I can't find proof of it and it didnt say anything about it in the movies.

It is refreshing to hear about couples who've stayed together. Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward come to mind, they've been married since the mid-60's. Will Smith and Jada Plinkett-Smith have been together for awhile as well. I know there are others, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
I know that when I read about all of her miscarriages, I just ached for her...my brother and SIL went through that agony four times themselves before having their first. Then they had twins. All boys. They can visit when they're ready for college...LOL!

It's alway's refreshing to hear about stars that stay with one partner, rather it be in marraige or simply dating, for a long time. I did not know that Will Smith was one of them though.... not that I know anything about him other then he's drop dead gorgous! Especialy in I Am Legand.

Jada Pinkett Smith is his second wife. His first was just a few years, but Will (Willard) Smith has been married to JPS since 1994, but met her in 1990.
Others:
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson (since 1988)
Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollen (since 1988)
David Morse and Susan Wheller Duff (since 1982)
Samuel L. Jackson and LaTonya Richardson (since 1982)
Michael Caine and Shakira Caine (since 1973)
There are more, but unfortunately, not quite enough to compare with those who do not stay together.

Don't forget Warren Beatty and Annette Bening. They were married in 1992.

Look at me, resurrecting a thread...
Well, it's just assumed that they do in 200. But Daniel was there too. Maybe it was Sam and Daniel.
I'm gonna get shot for saying this, but it should have been Sam and Daniel. *ducks the bullets*
Or Sam and Martouf/Lantash. It's important to remember that they were two people. I think the writers screwed up the Tok'ra. They would switch back and forth for a while, but after that it just turned into humans who just happened to have snakes in their head. Or Goa'uld who just happened to be friendly. Oh well, that's off topic.
Umm...now I'm gonna go start a similar thread in the Atlantis forum! Woohoo!

Actually, the way the two (Daniel and Jack) were standing was indicative of the fact that Jack was the groom.
Also, there was a line that was a jab at slash fan fiction...when Daniel whispers to Jack that if Sam "doesn't get here soon, people are going to think this is about you and me." I have heard it was added to appease MS's dislike of slash.

That's what I thought. I guess MS (who hates the slash...I've heard he really makes fun of the entire idea, although the slashers don't seem to 'get' that.) thought it would be fun to stick that line in there. The look that the two (Daniel and Jack) exchange after he says that speaks volumes, that look of horror/revulusion...or, simply put, that "ewww" look in their eyes is what made me just roll on the couch laughing.

I remember that and I agree..it was very funny.
I was a Sam/Jack and Sam and Martouf/Lantash fan when it came to that aspect.

I dislike slash very much. I really do not understand how people 'see' things in obviously straight men and women.
*shakes head* just ridiculous if you ask me.
I find it very disrespectful to said actors/characters. Many actors that I like from SG and SGA have said they do not like it. So, then why do people continue? Who knows? << *both rhetorical questions*

I am fine now, really. *walks away shaking head* :raz:

What surprises me is that slash fiction is so popular and there's so much of it. I've actually found a Star Trek BOOK (published and everything) that is slash. The whole book. I didn't finish it - two pages in I was done. No, the wedding wasn't Jack and Daniel. That's just....gah! No other words to describe it. Any one who writes a story about that is...I don't have the words to describe accurately. About the fan bubble, Robin, what else is fanfiction for? I've said it before and I'll say it again. I suppose some people would say that about slash, though. Whatever. The line was funny.
Ummm...yeah. I am scared of the fact that you're smiling, AC! lol I like how you keep tweaking your sig.

What freaks me out is the fact that most slash is written by 'middle-aged women'.
Now...I have NO idea where they get the idea that Jack and Daniel have the hots for one another. The two are very good friends, that's obvious. I'm assuming that these women don't believe men can be friends without sharing a bed and swapping bodily fluids. (I suppose the same goes for the female slash, too. *shudder*)
I agree, it IS disrespectful of the actors, but most certainly the characters. I have always thought that if Jack and Daniel could confront these writers, they'd have more than one or two things to say about it, and none of it complimentary.
And I have to wonder, when these people write fan fiction for shows like "Will and Grace", do they make Will and Jack straight? I mean, it seems to me that these people can't leave the character, and especially the sexual orientation of said character, alone.
Pick a fandom, and you'll find slash for it. However, the numbers of those who actually LIKE slash are much lower than it appears. These writers are prolific (even more so than me...LOL!) but the community is very tight knit, and so they post the same story in numerous venues/sites. They 'block vote' at any awards program where they're allowed (there is one that I know of that doesn't allow slash), which actually caused a few problems within the SFA's a couple of years back. They're a very active, outspoken group, but like I said, their numbers aren't as large as you'd think. If you go to forums where slash is 'favored' or check the authors of slash stories, you'll see the same names again and again.
Now, with all that said, and it's obvious that I don't like slash, I will say this...I would never deny these people the right to create whatever they want...simply because I don't believe in censorship. I may not like it, approve of it, or believe that it's in any way 'true' to the show (there are slashers who will argue with you ad nauseum that they are remaining 'true to canon'). But I won't deny them the right to create their stories.
There were several reasons I joined this forum...it's not huge, so I don't feel as if I'm getting lost in the shuffle; the people here are warm and friendly and fun; and it's not 'slash friendly'. Which makes me very happy and comfortable, since I'm not fond of slash.
Hmm...guess I said a mouthful again, didn't I? LOL!
