Other than Vala, who do you think is the most compelling love interest Daniel has had?
Shar'ai is what made Daniel join the SGC to begin with, but we saw little of her in the show.
Sarah brought a new twist, but was there any real love connection between them?
Ke'ra, the woman who turned young and lost her memories (and used be to Linea) and used to be a psychopath, definately had feelings for Daniel and they seemed to be somewhat returned.
And then there's Leda, the woman from the planet that had to deal with Soren, a regilious martyr who lead an uprising and caused Daniel to be trapped on the planet for a long period of time.

None but Sha'rai were compelling to me. Not even Vala.

Uh, no, Sha're isn't what made Daniel join the Stargate program. He had already 'joined' it when the program sent the first expedition to Abydos. He just REjoined when he returned to Earth in order to look for her.
Like NewFan, none of the women they have had on the show have had any spark...or caused any sparks. I'll spare you my Vala rant.

Got that one right, Robin.
Seems the only one that ever sparked Daniel into doing something (OK, wrong way of wording it but ya get it) was Sha're...Once she was kidnapped that was it. He went into high gear. And he was devistated when she died. Man did he go after Teal'c for that...LOL I would hate to be on Daniels bad side.
Although...(looks at a few pix of Daniel) Does he have a bad side?....LOL

I'd hate to be the focus of his wrath...but nope, he doesn't have a bad side...

I don't think he should be with vala. It's all better then all the dumb slashing going on !

Don't knock Slashing, it's a lot of fun and can be quite a challenge at times too, it's where my better stories come from, unless you count my novel.

Sorry, but I cannot handle that stuff. Even if I turn my head sideways, squint, and try really hard, I can NOT see ANYTHING at all sexual between Jack and Daniel. They're very good friends, yes...they love one another like brothers...doesn't mean they'd ever share a bed and swap bodily fluids!
To me, that's as far from canon as you can possibly get! It takes both characters so far out of context they're not even recognizable. And I can't for the life of me figure out the appeal.
Because ALL I could find when I started reading fan fic was slash, Danny-whumping (which I also dislike greatly!), and stories so poorly written I couldn't even make sense of them, I started writing my own. That's also the reason Renee started writing. From the success of our site, I would have to say that the majority of Stargate fans were also looking for something other than the...stuff...that was available.
Now, I'm not saying that folks who write and read that...stuff...don't have the right to do so...I'll fight to the bitter end for their right to do so. I just can't figure it out...or handle it! :huh1:

I actually really enjoyed this episode. And the relationship between the two, granted it was a bit rushed and didn't last very long. But she was the rebound relationship after Shar'ai.
Daniel hasn't had many other compelling love interests. But out of the ones mentioned Ke'ra (Linea) was the most compelling IMO.
I haven't seen all of the original Stargate movie nor have I seen the first Stargate SG1 episode. The two main episodes with Shar'ai (apart from "Forever in a Day" where she dies), so I can't really comment on her.

I preferred Shar'ai in the movie compared to the actress they got in the show. Lots more chemistry (though this could be simply do to Spader)

I am going to have to say Sha're from the movies. She seemed like a more determined person. Someone that is not afraid to fight. The Sha're in the series came across to me as more of a submissivie weak person. Also, she did not seem to flaunt herself as much in the movie as she did in the first episode.
Okay, I will be the first to say that the show was not as good beginning season 9, but I don't think it was horrible. Vala made me laugh a lot. As far as Vala being a love interest goes, she and Daniel are not that bad together. Ever heard of opposites attracting. He has never been with a woman like her. Tere were several episodes where you could tell he really cared for her.
Please don't beat me AC and Robin. LOL

ROFLMBO! Won't beat you...but I will ignore any posts that speak of Daniel and *gag* Vala together...:raz:
Seriously, there are those who enjoyed the last two seasons of Stargate SG-1. (My husband is one of them.) However, I find it interesting to note that the majority of 'Gaters, those who have been fans since the movie, or at the very least, since the first season, have less than stellar opinions of the final seasons. Also, there were a number of "Farscape" fans who 'discovered' Stargate due to the arrival of Ben Browder and Claudia Black. Not understanding the dynamics of the show, and the SG-1 team, they had no idea that the show had taken such a disappointing turn. 'Gaters started dropping off in season six, many returned for season seven, and then found season eight to be taking a turn that was neither expected, nor totally appreciated. The sudden and inexplicable 'beginning' of season nine had most of us running in the opposite direction, screaming "NO!" the entire time. I stopped watching after the third or fourth episode of season nine. I told Hubby that night that the writers had killed the show. He didn't believe me. Until it was announced that the show was being canceled.
(That was a rather long-winded explanation for my dislike of the Vala/Daniel thing, wasn't it? LOL!)
