Why Shanks left after season 5

I saw something about this at Gateworld. According to them he was unhappy with the direction his character was going in seasons 4 and 5 and his use as an archealogist was not being shown as much so he chose not to renew his contract when the powers that be refused his request.

I think it's good that he was standing up for his character like that.

Does anybody know if it is true that Daniel was originally not supposed to come back and that Jonas was intended to continue to be a part of SG-1 past Season Six while Daniel popped in occasionally as an Ascended?

I don't know but it wouldn't surprise me.

I had heard that Daniel came back because people were demanding him back instead of Jonas.

I'm not a major Jonas fan myself, although the character was quite likeable, but there seem to be a lot of people that loathe him.

I've heard that too. I don't know, I loved the character of Jonas personally and wished he hadn't left after season 6.

I liked Jonas too. I wished MS never left, but that was his decision and I don't think people should have taken it out on Jonas.

Although, I thought they way they were able to do MS guest appearances was great.
