Just wanted to let you all know that I updated my site today with the newest story for the Destiny's Child series. So if any of you are interested, stop on by and check it out. (Have to be honest with you...it will all make more sense if you read the stories in 'timeline' order')

I'll have to check it out sometime this week. Really like your website. Love the song on your myspace page. LOL!

Thanks! It's nothing fancy...but I have never been into lots of frills, bells and whistles. As for the song...fell in love with it when my Son bought the Def Leppard album it's on...:yea:

I post more on LJ than I do on MySpace...don't get the error screens on LJ! I have gone days without being able to even get ON to MySpace (which is the reason for the LJ:wink:)

Thank you! The Chosen One is obviously the first...my first attempt at fan fiction anyway. The better stories are actually the Destiny's Child Series...at least that's what *I* think...

My, my......I've only gotten to chapter two and he's already giving away kisses. LOL!

I have to say not bad. I have one question though. Where did you have Daniel fly into in When Destiny Calls?

I'm just curious because I know that the MAC flights go into McChord or Seatac on the Western side of the state. So, I was just curious.

I wouldn't have progressed the story that fast, but what the hay? It's fanfiction. I'm down for a fast moving, good romance story about Daniel.

Off to read chapter 3 and 4.

Daniel flew into McChord. And it's moving 'fast' because of what happened in "Fire of the Gods", the story in The Chosen One series that 'spawned' the Destiny's Child series. I believe that even the characters note that things are moving fast, but understand why...*grin*

Well, maybe I should go back and read The Chosen One before I continue. It's just that you said the Destiny's Child was better and so I started there.

It's okay to start there...as long as you read Fire of the Gods...you don't have to understand the story arc for The Chosen One, it just 'introduces' the SG-1 of Destiny's Child...and gives insight on how/why things progressed so quickly.

Holy macanoli Robin!

Before I saw your last post, I had went ahead and read through chapter 6. Oh boy, had to fan myself to get through some of the passages.

LOL!

To make it even more interesting, SciFi was having a Stargate marathon today. Kept picturing Daniel in the context of that story. Was just shaking my head all day today.

Much deserved. Not that it's a bad thing. But, now I am a bit curious about Fire of The Gods. I think I may go back and atleast read that chapter before I go any further into When Destiny Calls.

BTW, when do you find the time to write all that? You've got a lot of stuff on your site. How long has it taken you to get all that done?

Great work!

I've been blessed with a very active Muse...and I write whenever I can, usually a bit every evening, and on the weekends if Hubby is out of town, that's all I accomplish...LOL! It's take a couple of years to write it all...the dates each story was posted is listed on the "You Wrote that When?" page. The first dozen or so stories for The Chosen One were very short, written in just a couple of days.

Ok, this has got me curious. I am going to have to check this out. I am a Fan Fic writer from way back....first story...was of Star Trek. Heavy subject for a 7 year old, but I grew up with it. So anyhoo, I am going to go download and read at home. I downloaded Forever and Ever, Amen. Looking forward to this.
Give you my honest opinion later.
Oh, and Robin... how do I put my fanfic on my site. Curious...

You know to be honest I don't see you as competition...that is not a bad thing. I just think we both have our writing styles and I always find it interesting how other people see things. Just don't go writing about Carson...hehe just kidding. :raz: (but really please don't LOL) Stick to Daniel...good subject. LOL

I am so saucy...LOL

I have an FTP program that I use, FileZilla. I could use Frontpage, but I only use it to make the pages...when they're finished, I open up Filezilla, and upload. Once you figure the FTP program out...it's a snap!

Since I don't watch Atlantis, there's no chance of me writing about anyone from that show! (Haven't watched SG-1 since the 3rd episode of Season 9...it had become the Cam Mitchell Show featuring Valla, with occasional backup singers Daniel, Sam and Teal'c, and the storyline had so many plot holes you could have driven a mac truck through them! I don't know of many Stargate fans who have been fans since the movie who have watched the last two seasons [certainly no one in my circle of friends...except for hubby, has the stomach to watch it]...it quickly STOPPED being Stargate, and never recovered. I have hope for the second movie however...won't bother with the first one, since it will still be dealing with that Ori ****)

As for competition...I've never viewed any other fan fic writer as competition. We all have our own views and ways of writing.

Okay Robin, I'm about to start reading Fire of The Gods. Is there anything I know before I begin this one? Once I finish, I'm gonna to return to Destiny's Child.

Oh and out of curiosity. Do you name your stories and then write or write them and then name them?

Just curious. I did some writing when I was younger and notice I never titled until about half way through the story. Although with my poetry, it's about half and half. It depends if I just start writing or if I had something in mind before I begin to write.

I was wondering if other writers do the same thing.

Let's see...in The Chosen One Series, that's what Daniel is, The Chosen One. He's been granted a cool gift or two. Casey is pyschic, much moreso than in Destiny's Child. And TCO is a crossover between Highlander and Stargate, but it's not at all necessary to know anything about the Highlander series. The story probably won't make a lot of sense to you...it's part of the continuing arc of TCO...but at the same time, 'introduces' the DC 'gang'. You should be able to make some sense out of it...*grin* (Just received an email today from a reader who has been reading my work since I started writing it...she informed me she's reading TCO through for the fourth time! I don't thing *I*'ve read it through four times!! LOL!)

re Titles...I have the title before I start. Usually I know what the title and the story are going to be, or the general idea, two to three stories in advance. In several of the stories, especially in DC, the title is also a 'tag line'...in otherwords, it's used somewhere in the story.

I've been writing stories since I learned how to write...LOL! It's my hobby...keeps my head from exploding. Having a place to share them is just the icing on the cake for me...the stories would be written no matter what!

I hope you don't mind but from my point of view of writting...I am about 50/50 on the title thing too. I hope you don't mind I added my 2cents.

Sure don't mind...hey, that's what this is all about, everybody joining the 'conversation', right?

I have found that I honestly can't 'get started' until the title is on the top of the page. I can have all of the ideas...have scenes and dialogue and all of that bouncing through my head, but that's where it stays until the title is up. Yeah, I know, I'm weird. But I've discovered that most writers are. We are a truly unique bunch! There was a thing on the Oscars this year, when the category came up for best writer...showing the guys and gals during the 'creative process'. My best friend and I were bouncing up and down going 'YES!! Been there! Done that!' My family considers me strange, I think...bless 'em, they love me anyway. The just dont' understand the 'one-sided- arguements and discussions they sometimes overhear...as I argue or work something out with the Muse and/or the characters. They don't understand that when I give that shriek of "YES!" it's because finally, after hours, or sometimes days, that tiny little piece has dropped into place, and everything 'works'. Yep, we writers are a strange breed...gods and goddesses bless us all! *grin*

A couple of times...but usually once the title comes to me, it's 'just right'. I have a very talented Muse! She and the characters do all of the work, I'm just the fingers for the keyboard! *grin*

I know I have changed a title a time or two considering the story suddenly goes a whole diffrent direction than I thought it would.

I'm just the fingers for the keyboard!
That is cute. I do all my writting by hand and then if I feel like it type it out... And then of course I make all my little changes. Course going over hundreds of hand written pages sometimes get tedious that is why I wrote my recent short fanfic on the compy. Now if I can only get it on line....maybe I am just not ment too...who knows. :slap:

I have yet to write a story and have the journey from the beginning to the end be what I thought it was going to be! I have already gone back to read what I have, only to find something and sit here shaking my head, wondering "When did THAT happen?" I love it when the characters surprise me with a bit of insight to how they think...their views, even some of their past.

I stopped writing by hand years ago...most of my notes are handwritten...but it's just too darned inconvenient to write everything out. Makes it hard to move paragraphs and rearrange them! When I did write in notebooks, by the time I had the first draft done, sometimes *I* couldn't even read it, for all of my notes/changes!

Good luck in getting your story online...all it takes is a couple of clicks!

Okay, got through chapter 1 of Fire of The Gods. I "may" have to back track again. I was confused in the begining.

Am I right to assume D & C are married? A & C are father/daughter? S & J are married? I was a bit confused. But it could be that I jumped right in the middle of things.

I like the way it's playing out though. Like that C is helping them. Do the earlier stories explain how they actually met A and C? The father daughter set up for D reminds me a bit of Share and her father. Not the storyline, the set up.

Oh, oh, oh, my favorite part was than even though C could sense "them", Teal'C was able to pick up on it too. But I think him being in tune has more to do with training than special ability.

Maybe I just need to read up on another chapter or two.

Not bad!

Have you thought about copyrighting any of it? Just in case someobody copies it off your site.

Robin K
05-30-2007, 04:12 AM
Okay, Aaron IS Casey's father. He's also more than just the Ascended being they believe him to be (they find out more about him in Hard to Say Goodbye)

Casey was kidnapped from Earth by a Goa'uld the NID had taken, one who had followed SG-1 back through the 'gate. SG-1 rescued her, that's how Daniel and Casey met. She's an Immortal, only she didn't know it at the time. Methos was working at the SGC...because he had heard rumors, and he had been a part of the slave rebellion against the Goa'uld.

Fast forward, Casey is a seer, SG-1 is now Immortal, and they find her parents...there's an explanation on Immortals and Ancients and Ascended Ancients in the first story (Forever and Ever, Amen)...but the deal is, her parents left the company of the Ancient Ascended to be with their daughter.

The team moves to Gamma, in fact, all of the Immortals are on Gamma, as well as all but a handful of ppl who worked at the SGC...because of the NID. Yep, Jack and Sam are married. Teal'c is married as well. (Can't remember right off the bat which story that happened in.)

Anyway, they're looking for...and find the weapon the Ancients had built. Because Daniel is The Chosen, he's the only one who can actually use the weapon.

That should help a little bit...I think...LOL! The SG-1 of Destiny's Child doesn't show up until near the end of the story. But it 'introduces' them.

Hadn't actually thought about copyrighting anything...guess I shoulc check into that, eh?

Robin K

I suppose that I should do something like that, since I'm putting it all online. I have all of the disclaimers, but never thought about the copyright thing when I started the site.

Just thoughts in my head. Learned a bit about it in my business information systems class last term and my business law class this term. If anything posted online, it's very hard to bring a case forward, because most of it is not copyrighted. General knowledge stuff I understand, but yours is writing and very specific.

I've given in and just went all the way back to the begining. LOL!

I have begun reading the Chosen and gonna just go forward from there. Getting a lot of reading done while on my treadmill. LOL!

I do have a question. Are all the stories suppose to interconnect or am I suppose to be treating them as separate stories, but with the same characters?

I'm asking because of course, in The Chosen Casey was married, but in When Destiny Calls she was a virgin when she met Daniel right?

Gee, I actually thought it was all rather self-explanatory. The Chosen One series is just that...each story is a part of the 'story arc'. It the story "Fire of the Gods", an alternate reality SG-1 are tossed into the reality of TCO's SG-1. That is where Destiny's Child comes from, and DC is a SEPARATE reality, most of it is the same, but there are differences. TCO 'begins' about three months after the "Heroes" (That's the show episode) Which makes it AFTER Daniel Ascended/Descended (which is talked about in the stories) It's also mentioned that the DC SG-1 is 12 years BEHIND...the DC storyline picks up just before "Summit". When the stories 'start' for each series is stated on the stories list page.

Hope that clears up any confusion.

Anissa T

Doh!

Did I miss the whole alternate reality dig?

I'm such a dope sometimes. LOL!

I'm blaming it on the heat.......

Still I like that I went all the way back. I'm liking The Chosen One. Oh speaking of that. Like the Highlander stuff. I'm assuming that is where your MacLeod character is from.

Did enjoy that movie.

Um..yeah...based on the Series. Please refer to the home page of my site. It goes into all of that.

I just have to ask...did you print the stories out? Because if you're on your treadmill and trying to read a computer screen...I have a 19 inch flatscreen monitor, and if I'm not within four feet of it, I can't read it. Also, if you're trying to skim the stories, you might be missing important details. I have readers who have teased me about 'hiding' clues in the stories, something they seem to really enjoy.

So...

TCO...reality one/crossover with Highlander: the Series. (Personally, I didn't like any of the Highlander movies, happened to stumble on the series, and became a fan)
DC.....reality two/this alternate SG-1 was 'introduced' in Fire of the Gods. If you read Fire, I don't see how you could have 'missed' the alternate part.

Hope this helps clear up the confusion.

I only read the very begining of Fire.

Anyhow, yes, I do print them up. I do a few chapters at a time. I use to read them on the computer, but my goodness, my eyes hurt after awhile.

Read them on the treadmill, or at the busstop, occasionally before I go to bed.

Gotcha! Okay, if you only read the beginning of Fire, then you didn't get to the part where the alternate SG-1 showed up.

I LOVE my monitor...I have found that I can read longer with it than I could with the old one...I think maybe because I can adjust it so that the room lights aren't reflecting on it, and I can easily adjust the brightness.

Okay, now your getting me into trouble. While, I find it hard some of the things Daniel says to Casey (the knicknames and such), I'm finding the storyline itself quite interesting. I've been so involved in reading Chapters 7-9 (getting ready to read 10+), that I find myself not cleaning my house and such. LOL!

Good stuff!

According to the information I found online from the US Copyright office, once you've put your name on something that you have written/created, it is considered yours, and you don't have to have it registered for it to be considered copyrighted. Having it registered just strengthens any case you might have. It was really pretty interesting reading...

Totally got side tracked doing my business law homework. One of the definitions for damages used the word "wanton" and totally reminded me of what Daniel occasionally calls Casey in the various stories.

I even chuckled out loud and thought about the last chapter I read in The Chosen. Couldn't focus for almost 20 minutes.

Psst.....that's a compliment about your writing.
