View Full Version : Vote for us part 2

Jack meant well to try and fix the voting link to only appear on the home page but I was not happy that by doing so, he forced us to look at the Stargate theme only on the home page. I myself currently use the SG-1 theme and like to see that on the home page too.

So since I'm the style expert on the board, I corrected this. The voting link banner is still on the home page, but a little lower, and the home page will once again reflect your theme/style/skin choice.

Keep on voting! :D

You are indeed the whiz kid of the block! Great job!

No, Jack is the whiz kid, he's the techy guru. I've just done the theme work on the board and so I'm more familiarized with it. Any non-graphic issue for the board is best taken up with Jack.

That's more than I can do! I know a thimble's worth of computer stuff. Just a tad less about the internet!

You have a web site, don't you? Actually, it took me awhile to figure out the styles and getting them right, and they're still not all perfect. I still see green buttons in the SG-1 theme that I can't do anything about because I think that only Jack has access too as he's the board owner and has access to places I don't know where.

Yep, I do have a website (SHAMELESS PROMOTION!!) www.robinkh.com. I use Frontpage 2000, my son the computer genius cringes at that...but for what I want to do, and for learning, it's a good thing. I'm still trying to figure things out...have only had the site for a little over 14 months now. But it seems that there are folks out there who like visiting my little corner of the Stargate Universe, God bless 'em each and every one!

I'll be voting every day for Stargate Command, and would appreciate any votes for my site!

BTW, I'm having a blast here!!! XD

I've never used Frontpage, is that a part of Microsoft Works? My last semester in college I decided to buy Macromedia Studio MX from the college bookstore (since software there was much cheaper than at other places). So I use Dreamweaver for all my web site creations and love it. There is so much you can do with it.

Dreamweaver is a god among web page designers. Going back to just notepad, you feel blind as a bat...

Between you and me, Robin, I think their both perfectionists, and wont stop tinkering with the board untill it looks so good, it kills you. O.O
Of course, that wont happen, BECAUSE ILL HAVE TAKEN OVER THE BOARD BY THEN! MWAHAHAHAHA!!!

Dracus, you haven't even reached Friends status yet. Some takeover. :thbt: In fact, I'll bet Robin beats you to Friends status.

Frontpage is a Microsoft product...I got it from a friend when I had thought a few years ago I wanted to put up a website. He had bought it, didn't like it...he preferred to just do HTML (heck I don't even know what HTML stands for!!) So that's what I use.

I can tell that Jack and Carter are proud of this board...it shows! Which is what attracted me to it in the first place...neat, clean, easy to read...and the people here really ARE friendly...I've seen other boards claim that, and those you can actually read without being a member don't always come off that way!

Hmmm...methinks Carter has already picked up the fact that I'm a talker...lots of talking. Just one of those things. Parents couldn't wait for me to talk. Now the world wishes I'd just shut up...XD

I still use the standard notepad, however sometimes when I need a little help with the code I use frontpage only because I have it. I have heard dream weaver is better though.

You know, this voting site, it seems unethical for the hosting site to have their own banner, and when that banner is always at number one, it raises eyebrows. If I hosted a web site voting thing like that on my site, I would not put a banner for my site in the mix. By us having our link there we're giving them more notarity. I wonder if there aren't other, better voting sites out there. Just a thought. Anyone know of any?

I have to agree with you, it doesn't seem fair! The thing is, the Stargate Info Archive top list is probably one of the most popular lists, so a lot of traffic comes through there. That's why I put my site on the list. I'm listed on three others...one also has a lot of traffic, but it isn't Stargate-centric...that's Simi's Sci-fi toplist. It would be an excellent place to list the forum. (Same rules apply on that list) I'm on two other lists that aren't very well known, but I do get hits from there: Sourcegate Toplist and the Stargate International Toplist. You might also get the forum listed with Gateguide...I'm listed there as well, although it's not a 'toplist' at all, but a gathering of every kind of Stargate site imaginable. All of the webmasters of the sites I've listed are very nice...at least they've always been very kind to me when I have silly questions.

Just a quick not to remind everyone to continue voting for our site. I also added a new one (currently number 17). Thanks to Robin for pointing that one out to us.
