Jack has a dark side, one which we saw right off the bat in the movie.
Teal'c has a dark side - he was First Prime to Apophis all those years.
Daniel has a dark side with his parents having died when he was young and his wife being turned into a Goa'uld and being killed.
I can't think of a dark side for Sam.
So, do you think Cameron should have a dark side and why or why not?
I say yes because he needs more depth.

It depends.
Firstly, how dark is dark?
I think that if he were to be a golden boy, he would quickly become boring but maybe instead of giving him a dark past like Jack, Teal'c and Daniel - for one thing, they probably won't have time to go into it in any kind of depth - they made it a part of the character himself, a way he reacts to certain situations, maybe a part of him that's inflexible, or maybe that he's willing to resort to morally questionable methods - ie, torturing a Prior or something.

Well we did see his darkest memory, killing innocent refugees. However he was under orders and even Jack once made the comment that he had to do some very distasteful things during his service in the Air Force. And Mitchell only dropped the bomb after making sure he had confirmation. But he does feel the guilt.
We also got to see some of his childhood, something we never got to see with Jack. And another dark memory of coming to the hospital and seeing his dad with no legs.
They did good in tonight's episode to endear Cameron to us.

They did do good. I mean, he needed depth to make the character interesting and to create a connection that the audience can base his behaviour off.

I agree. I would like to see a dark side of him. Not too dark though.
