Title says it all. What do you think?

Hmm... It might be interesting if the series was based on an off-world site, like the Alpha-site.
Perhaps it's based on humans who have been displaced and are trying to find their way to their people's original home planet Earth while being attacked by a highly advanced race of artificial lifeforms.

Hmmm......
I was thinking more along the lines of the Alpha-site idea.

I wonder how many ideas they could use to not imitate either SG-1 or Atlantis without it imitating any other show either.
Atlantis started out with a Voyager feel and now has more of a Deep Space Nine feel. Are there really any truly original ideas left?
I do think it would be cool if they did a Stargate series that resembled LOTR a lot. In any case, I wish they would have a race of elves in the Stargate universe similar to those in LOTR.
They could do the series from an angle of people living on another planet who aren't from earth and perhaps have never heard about earth and maybe at the end of the series they make contact with earth. That might have some cool possibilities. It wouldn't be a military or civilian operation or joint like we see in the two current series, but perhaps a small band of people trying to survive in the universe against deadly enemies.
Actually, I think it would be cool if such a story existed in another galaxy besides Pegasus and Milky Way. A galaxy not yet heard of in the Stargate universe. Perhaps the galaxy where the Ancients originated? Hard to say, but some place where the Ancients would have put down Stargates. Or perhaps another race of beings who also created Stargates. There's no reason to say there can't be another race of beings besides the Ancients who developed such a technology.
They are sending Sam to Atlantis. I wonder if they'll somehow send Daniel, Teal'c, or Cameron into the new series. Perhaps something happens, an accident of sorts with the Stargate where one of them gets sent to another galaxy by fluke and the others are unable to find or follow, and perhaps presuem them dead.
Then lost in an unknown galaxy with no way of getting home, they make friends and join them fighting their fight against some evil force in their galaxy.
I would choose either Daniel or Cameron since they tend to show more emotion than Teal'c and I like the idea better of Teal'c returning to be a leader among his people.
Though perhaps they could have a series about the Jaffa. Maybe title it: Stargate Jaffa Nation. ;) Although I think I would get bored with a series about the Jaffa. Warrior stories tend to bore me.
But I really like the idea of it being a bunch of nomads of sorts in another galaxy fighting an evil there. And I like the idea of either Daniel or Cameron being displaced there and having to start a new life. It would be interesting for Cameron especially since he's an Air Force Colonel to suddenly be in a non-military situation where he has neither officers above him or anyone below him. To see him shift out of military mode into a more relaxed and casual mode. Daniel would obviously be able to make that transition more easily.

I really like the elven (sp??) idea. But, something to go along with it. Not just the elves. They have to have an enemy, but can't make it too much like LOTR.
The nomad idea is intriguing. I'm not so sure about Cameron or Daniel heading that up. But, the idea is good.
What if they all headed into the gate for one last mission and each of them gets sent somewhere unknown?

I like the idea of Orcs or Urkai being the bad guys! :p
I can totally see Cameron and/or Daniel being misplaced like that.
I would not like that if SG-1 ended up with them all being lost. But we already know Sam's going to Atlantis.

I don't know. Now that I think about it. Do we want a third series with people all from the same place?

You've lost me. Stargatish?
But all these ish's make me think.
Since the event horizon looks like a big puddle of water, does that mean the people who go through become celestial fish while they're in the big puddle?

Carter you rock!
What if they did a show about what happens to people on the other side of the event horizon? What if the force of a black hole pulls you in and then jettisons you out to something/somewhere else?
Mind, you, I know the popular theory is that it just rips you to pieces.
Colonel Carter
01-23-2007, 09:37 PM
Blackhole can't pull you into an incoming wormhole. The wormhold shuts down on it's own, remember? With no effect to those on the incoming side. Only if it's an outgoing and then I'd rather not see people die in slow motion.
How about showing the other side of a wormhole and see people's reactions to golfballs flying through? :p

I'm not talking wormholes at all. But, that is also an idea. I remember seeing some theory about bending space. While, hard to grasp, it was an intrigueing (sp??) theory.
I'm just talking about what if we found out blackholes really don't act the way we thought once your in it's gravitational pull.

Have you seen the made for tv movie "A Wrinkle in Time?" It stars Katie Stuart who played Cassandra in seasons 1 and 2 of SG-1. It was my favorite book as a kid. Anyway, it uses the theory about folding space. Three stars (in human form) help Meg (Katie Stuart) her friend (played by the boy who stars in Everwood and was also in the movie Patriot) and her little brother (played by the boy from "The Ring" movies) travel across space and time to rescue Meg's father from the Man with Red Eyes who is working for IT by folding space and time. :)

I liked it enough to buy the DVD. :) But then again it was my favorite book as a kid and I still have the book report I made on it from third grade, which I was so excited and proud of that I paid money to laminate it before turning it in, though now looking at it, it looks like the work of a 3rd grader and nothing special, but anyway. I had a prior bias to the movie since I liked the book, but I think the book did pretty good considering it was on a tv movie budget.

Actually, according to what I understand, hyperspace is a form of folding space. I know the Stargate defiantly is. Wormholes work in the same way.

MGM and the producers of the Stargate franchise have confirmed that a third Stargate series will be made, with a projected premiere in early 2008. The show is set to enter pre-production in March 2007, and to enter production in the summer.[1]
According to showrunner Robert C. Cooper, the "series maintains the spirit of Stargate, but opens up a whole new 'universe'." [2]
It has been reported, and denied, that Michael Shanks, who plays Daniel Jackson in Stargate SG-1, has been offered the lead in the new series.
I don't know if I would trust wiki though. Take a look at this.

When the Asuran armada is destroyed, a weapons satellite appears above the city, and unless they can fly the city away from Lantea, Atlantis will be no more.
Am I the only one that doesn't think this is accurate? There's more about SG-1 episodes that don't exist and synopises on the two movies.

The problem with Wiki is that anyone can register a username and immediately add, delete, or change information there. So they really aren't a reliable source of information.
