Did anyone else know that the actress who played Rodney McKay's little sister is the actor's little sister in real life? I didn't know that until just now. How cool is that? Maybe that's why they had such a great sibling chemistry on the show. Jeannie was played by actress Kate Hewlett.

I always think it's cool when family gets to work together on something like that. I know on SG-1, one of Chris Judge's sons was in an episode and I think more of his family might have been, and I know Amanda Tapping's husband walked through at least one episode. I think this is the first I've heard of one of the cast having a family member get a speak part let alone a leading guest star role. Perhaps because she was already an established actress. Now that I know they're related, I can see a slight similarity in their appearance. I think around the eyes.

I knew only because my friend is a huge fan of hers. Kate Hewlett does a lot of stage acting and my friend Kelly goes and watches a lot of her plays. Her favourite story is that she went to see a play after the episode aired and she went up to Kate and told her how much of a fan she was of her on Stargate and Kate said "wow, my first stargate fan!" and ever since then Kate knows Kelly by name. Lucky.

I read David Hewlitt's blog from time to time...btw, he and his wife Jane just welcomed their first child, a boy just a few weeks ago. I remember that his first name is Sebastian, and he has two middle names. I remember the Sebastian because that's my grandson's middle name. Anyway, yep, I knew that they are real siblings. She's in his first independent film with him as well, "A Dog's Breakfast", as well as the actor who plays Carson Beckett.

David's nickname for his son is Baz. I wonder how his sister feels about that...
