It would be nice to see Jonas again. I mean he could help fight the Ori by giving some clues or just paying them visit for old times sake. I mean Marty came back, why not Jonas? But I doubt will happen, although I could write a fanfic about it. Oh well what do you guys think, should they bring back Jonas just for one visit?

I wouldn't be opposed to a guest appearance.

He wasn't supposed to be compared to Daniel. I really dislike it when people say that, especially since it was Michael Shanks decision to leave for that season.

MS had a very good reason for making that decision as well...the writers were starting that drift away from what Stargate is all about: the friendship between Jack and Daniel. The Stargate was only the catalyst for that friendship. When is was week after week of UST between Jack and Sam, and he was essentially put on the back burner, he had every right to voice his protest. Obviously the fans got it, he was back before season 6 was over...

Jonas was sweet, never meant to 'replace' Daniel Jackson, but really a weak character, even when they did episodes to offer a bit of 'back-fill' for the character. I can't see him ever being more than minor character, like Jacob/Selmak, Martouf, and even Gen. Hammond.

Oh, I didn't realize michael shanks left of free will. I was devasted when he died, kinda like Citizen Joe, but not that much! Then when he came back it was as goa'ould god returned (in a positive way).

Don't get me wrong. I knew why he left and I actually agreed with his reasoning. But, I felt Corin Nemic and his character were treated so cruelly by the fans for that season, when it was a move that had to be made because MS "chose" to leave.

I don't think the fans intended to be cruel. And I don't believe MS's decision to leave was made lightly. The blame lies solely with writers who moved too far from what the show was about. THAT was what had the fans upset. Stargate SG-1=friendship between Jack and Daniel. It's that simple. Fans understood that. Which is why it never did find its footing again after season 7. Daniel was back, the team was together. Season 8 saw Jack behind a desk. The banter was still there, the relationship still there, but it the dynamics did change. That was the last season of Stargate SG-1. What came after shared the title and the theme music, and a few basic ideas. But it was a lousy show from the first episode...simply because the writers and TPTB decided that the fans were too stupid to realize what they were doing. I had friends from Australia contacting me when S9 started there, certain they had missed at least one episode...one that explained why the SGC was suddenly so different. And none of us paid much attention to that 'new show'. Hear it didn't make it past two seasons...

Very, very true, Robin. I agree. The show was never the same after the first time Daniel died. As for Jonas...well he tryed to fill the gap Daniels charater left behind, the one of the genius...but it wasn't ment to be. Corin or as I remember him being called when we were younger 'Corky' Nemic, was really treated badly by the fans. I disliked him at first as well, but as I look and watch the old epi's he wasn't so bad. I think he did the best he could with what he was given.

I agree with you on the fact that Corin Nemic did the best he could with what he was given. And to be honest, his character stepped into a spot that no one could have filled. Again, it goes back to the basis of that Stargate is all about. The epidsodes of season 6 aren't 'bad'. They're just not what made Stargate popular. The dynamic isn't there, and that is glaringly obvious.

It's the same with Mitchell, the character is actually a hoot. Had TPTB/writers done a better job of introducing him, and not shoved him down the throat of the fans, he'd have been much more popular. And, if they had left Vala as an adversary rather than trying to force the fans to accept her as part of the team, she would have been more popular. But once again, the writers/PTB refused to listen to what the fans were saying. And when the fans are ignored, well, they tend to ignore right back! I just read an article that the DVD's for the first 8 seasons of Stargate are the hottest selling of ALL DVD's. That speaks volumes, doesn't it?
